President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural address is one of the most anticipated speeches in decades, with many expecting his words to be chiseled into marble some day.

Re: LOL @ CNN.com

Not really sure what the joke is here. I realize you take a pretty dim view of Obama, but I don't think there are many that would argue the mother fucker can give a speech like few before him. Whether or not he gets us out of this morass we're in is one thing, but he's likely to give a whale of a speech tomorrow and given the historic nature of the speech, it's pretty likely to be one that people remember, well, forever, and chances are pretty good that it'll end up carved into something like so many of the other great speeches that have been give over our nation's history.

Is it funny because CNN looks like it is gushing? Factually, not sure how you could argue with it.

I rather remember how he does in office instead of a speech. so far aside from the election, he still hasnt done thing. Actions will always speak louder than words. So far, he is just full of words. Much like our congress.

Since when did shosh get back?

gotta agree... not sure what you find funny about it either.

you dont think him being president is a major milestone in this country's history?

"remember" implies something that has happened in the past. dude hasn't even taken office yet, which is what this whole inauguration thing is all about.

ok, its YOU'RE. its a contraction of the words you and are, and therefore gets an apostrophe. but keep criticizing people on how to speak english. blatant hypocrisy is funny.

ohh and ravid is called missing the 'b' by one letter.

that pretty much sums up my opinion!

I can't believe people are celebrating already. It's like celebrating your win in the 1st quarter of a football game!!! Pretty blind if you ask me.

I think part of the celebration is that this time tomorrow, George W. Bush will no longer be our president. That's cause for celebration, for sure...:D

That is excessive, but in light of this week...

...And I mean that in a good way. ;)

Re: LOL @ CNN.com

hey guys, can we make this conversation a tad more constructive and leave the personal comments aside? Let's not make this place any more shittier in sentiment as it has been over the past several weeks. I'm not just saying that.....2008 ended really shitty, I dont want 2009 to start like this. And i can't do it without everyone helping out.

To the contrary, I'm at least as excited that Bush is leaving office as I am that Obama is coming into office. As it turns out, I happen to really like the guy replacing him, but I've had January 20, 2009 on my calendar since November 3, 2004.

Re: LOL @ CNN.com

Really?!?! i know some people dont seem to care, but how about "The First Black President In the History of the US".

that doesnt have enough merit on its own to put down as a page in history??

wow. I bet there are things written down in stone that dont have half the merit that this does, but still, shame on you CNN and all media outlets for not being as negative as you should be.

yes i meant RABID, i missed it by one letter, sue me dude.

also, i didnt (did not) know i had to be grammatically correct in everything i type... considering this is a message board not fucking english class.

as far as Obama, yes i agree he hasnt (has not) done anything yet but it is a combination of things that people are celebrating.

 1. end of Bush and the jesus freaks in the white house, guy had a ~20% approval rating at some times, one of the lowest in Presidential history.

 2. first Black President, yes it is a major milestone... just as it was when Jackie Robinson was the first to play Baseball.

those are probably the main ones... at least where i am concerned.

edited - Shosh, I'm serious dude, cut the personal attacks.

racism isn't funny. stereotypes are.

him becoming president doesn't merit him having shit inscribed in stone. him having a good speech writer doesn't qualify him as a great orator.

You know what, I am really glad Bush is going and I'm thrilled that you have elected a black president and particularly this guy. But I still think the "chiselled in marble" bit is really funny. I wouldn't mind betting that Obama would be having a quiet giggle over it as well. He seems to be a pretty down to earth person. :D
