Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals
Male vocals I'd suggest BPT - Moody, Morel - True (The Faggot Is You), 16B feat, Morel - Escape (Driving to Heaven) and anything with Quivver/Stoneproof on vocals. Not a lot of male vocals belong on prog tracks (Creamer n K's I Love You was uber cheese), but those ones do.
There you go, I was also looking for something with a bit more funk, and stuff like Moody fits perfect.

The point is I want to do something with a groovy-er and funky-er first half and then a more emotional second half. 8)

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

Hollis P Monroe 'Lonely' would definately fit in the funkier bracket. Fucking amazing bassline

Chris Fortier - Losing wait

#1150879Post 50 of 131

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

^^^ yes, good track, dammit, wrong track, lol.. i was thinking of I'm Waiting, which chris and luke remixed for expressed soul, same label but yes, this is a good'n too :)

#1150991Post 51 of 131

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

I always dug the Creamer and K remix of Nat Monday's "Waiting", dark and tribally with a great vocal on top.

#1150993Post 52 of 131

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

^^ yes, another great track!

#1151079Post 53 of 131

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

Blue Haze - Falling into Nothing (Bill Hamel remix). Good old tribal with Blackwatch - Word Unspoken (Asad Rizvi's silverlining remix).

There was also that one track from I think sultan with that dude who sounded like Bono from U2.

That Depeche Mode remix from Ali Ajami and Micali that was on Bedrock.

Also, there was an evil track from Dekay way back in 2002/2003. Matthew Dekay - Searching.

how about Cuba Computer - Haunting Me (Chus & Ceballos remix)?

#1151086Post 55 of 131

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

some newer stuff...

Astrid Suryanto - Distant Bar (Gutterstylz Vox mix) <---chicks LOVE that one for some reason. John Creamer & Stephan K - Get A Room ft Rosko (Randall Jones Growler Mix) Stel & Rekelectric - People (Randall Jones Vocal Mix) Budai & Vic - Set U Free Mikel Curcio - In Your Head ft Daniella (Noir Remix) Morgan Page & Gregory Shiff ft Astrid Suryanto - All I Know (Jim Rivers Space Disco remix) <--totally unnoticed track from late last year...have not heard anyone play this.
how about Cuba Computer - Haunting Me (Chus & Ceballos remix)?
Great catch, I used to love that tune back then! Cuba Computers is now actually Zoo Brazil.

day_for_night´s suggestions are great too, I only know the Astrid Suryanto and Budai & Vic tracks, have to check those others out.

I wanna do it all in just one normal-length CD though, but I´m starting to think maybe I´ll do a ´private´ and a ´public´ mix. I mean, people have mentioned a shitload of great tracks here, I feel almost sorry for keeping some of them out, but I have to keep in mind who I´m doing it for, so I´ll probably keep the darker stuff out of the ´private´ mix and then put those in a ´public´ mix which I´ll share with you guys.

That´s the least I can do to thank you for all your help. 8)

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

best of luck Kinetic, on your endeavor.

i started to think of some good ol' prog trax with moderate to prominent amounts of vocals -- but then i got overwhelmed by the vastness of just how many great prog vox trax that have actually been made (and ones i'll never know the ID to). so in my honest opinion, here are a few off the top of my head -- that always seem to stand out...

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

Wow guys I´m overwhelmed, thanks!

And you know, I don´t mind the thread takeover, this has actually got me listening to a lot of older stuff I hadn´t touched in a long time, great memories here.

It´s funny how some names keep coming up : Lexicon Avenue, Creamer & K, Deep Dish.

I always thought Creamer was a dick, to be honest, what with all the talk about "inventing progressive" but man, he and Stephan K had some great tunes back then.

#1151573Post 76 of 131

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

This is us sitting by the porch staring into the sunset sipping on some whiskey and maybe smoking a pipe.

IMO I think Creamer was the housier of the duo and K is where the goods are/were.

Re: Help wanted - Progressive trax with vocals

Everyone has already nailed a ton of classics, but I'll throw in:

Morgan Page - Longest Road (Deadmau5 Remix)

Chab - Closer to Me

Sono - Keep Control

Terry Grant - I'll Kill You (Luke Chable Mix)

Cassius - Sound Of Violence (Yvel and Tristan remix) Can't find a sample, but it's in this awesome Lokitas set

Junkie XL - Power of Big Slacks

X Press 2 - Kill 100 I can't remember the exact mix but it was on a Medway Podcast for Groove Collection from about 3 years ago. I'll try to upload it when i get home from work but it's fucking amazing.
