i light of the new years resolutions thread.
i'm intrigued to see how many of us smoke!
i've been smoking for over 10years. between 15-20 a day excluding nights out where it all goes out the window.

Re: Smoking
Gave up over 2 years ago after many, many attempts. Smoked 15-20 per day, but could hit 40 on a night out, which was too often.
I shit you not, quitting was the best thing I've ever done. You should try again ;)
Re: Smoking
ive actually quit today wish me luck
Re: Smoking
^^ Sure do !! :D Another, reformed for years , very heavy smoker before.
Re: Smoking
Used to smoke about 10-15 a day for around 8 years but now just smoke at weekends when im out having a drink.
Re: Smoking
Been smoking for about 8 years now. about 10-15 a day, alot more on wkends.
Hopefully one day i will give up although i have never tried to.
Re: Smoking
been smoking for 15 years, 10 - 20 a day but as everyone said this can be a lot more if i start drinking! never tried to quit, although it would be a lot better!
Re: Smoking
I quit for 6 + years. Smoked from 22 to 32 about a pack a day. Then I started again in 2007 while in London and Ibiza, still smoking today, about 2 to 6 a day.
Re: Smoking
6 a day isnt bad!
Re: Smoking
I quit almost 2 years ago. Haven't looked back. It disgusts me know.

That's why I started smoking again. I would get nauseous if I was drunk and smelled cigarette smoke. I figured that’s not really going to be a good thing while in Ibiza for 12 days and London for a week. I started smoking right before the trip, it worked as far as the nausea, but I haven’t stopped since.
I quit almost 2 years ago. Haven't looked back. It disgusts me know.
this is what happens.. i cant understand why people forget they used to smoke and become so bitchie with other people who still smoke!
no personal offense Dave, im talking in general coz im seeing this all the time! my uncle was a heavy smoker.. he quit 3 months before the smoking ban in UK. now when i smoke a cig outside of the kitchen at the restaurant i work, he comes down and he tells me to move away from the door coz the smoke goes inside the restaurant and customers will smell it...:Boom:
i mean WTF!!!!!!
Re: Smoking
^^The smell of it on other people make me wonder why I even started in the first place. I could care less if others smoke.
Re: Smoking
I only smoke when I'm drinking and somebody offers
Re: Smoking
Used to smoke back in college and grad school (hit a max of 10 a day) but for the last 10 years or so have only really smoked when I drank. But that used to be like close to a pack a weekend. Ever since the no smokiing in clubs/bars ban, plus hanging out with friends who've quit, even my smoking while drinking has been cut down dramatically...usually no more than a handful of cigs a weekend (4-6, 8max).
I can't say its done wonders for my stamina as I try to stay fit anyway, but it definitely is good not to have that overwhelming urge to step outside when seated at dinner and drinking.
At some point I'd like to quit completely.

Same as me, gave up 3 or 4 years ago, never looked back. Was on about at least 15 a day. Cant stand the things now.
Re: Smoking
I am smoking since 25 years but brought it down to 5-8 cigarettes per day since half a year. I used to smoke 20-30 daily before, not to speak of nights in clubs or with friends. I tried to quit maybe two years ago but even after more than half a year, I was still on fire to light another one till one day, beer and a good party lead to starting this shit all over. Maybe I wasn't serious enough the last time.
Re: Smoking
Smoked for 15 years.... I am on day 32 right now with not even a drag!!!
Re: Smoking
I don't believe in New Years Resos but I actually did one this year. I quit smoking only because it was honestly making me feel awful on a day to day basis. I smoked for three years about 10-15/day not counting beer nights. But haven't had one in 13 days and counting (trying not to count because that is lame keeping track means you keep it on the mind) so hopefully I will be able to follow through.
Re: Smoking
I was moking 10 - 15 a day, and I stopped smoking on the 10th October 2008 (the day before my wedding).
Bar several bongs, I've not smoked anything since.

actually, you make a good point, and not only with cigs, but I notice a lot of people that have quit one thing or another.. drugs, drinking, smoking...they seem to have a more harsh view of the people that still do those things, almost forgetting how it once controlled their lives, lol
Re: Smoking
yeah. go sit in a N.A, A.A or any anonymous meeting; they seem to have them for just about everything nowadays lol. the die hard anonymous nazi's are the worst. so harsh. f them.
i used to smoke a little, not really my thing, but i'll buy a pack occasionally.

Re: Smoking
I dont smoke cigs, only herb..
and only for about 2-3 years..
I tried cigs when I used to drink, one day I had a magic bean.. i took a drag of a cig and i gagged, or puked... i forget..
never smoke a regular cig again, but sometimes i'll have a clove with my friend.
Re: Smoking
I quit about a year ago. Used to smoke about a half to a full pack a day during the week and on the weekend much more. Had some health issues last summer until almost last winter. Just decided it was not worth it anymore. I think it is for better now and don't miss it at all.
Re: Smoking
Never took up smoking myself, thankfully, but I have seen my aunt struggle with quitting over the years. She will do really well and not smoke for months, then something will cause her to stress out more than normal and bam! starts smoking again. Its a vicious cycle :(
Good luck to everyone trying to quit...I know it can be quite the challenge, but hang in there!
Re: Smoking
I used to smoke..for about 15 yrs.I quit cold turkey back in July.not because I wanted to lie a healthier life but for the reason the price went up about 3 times in the course of one day.
Re: Smoking
if i was in the uk i would have quit a long time ago because of the price! its twice the price than in italy!
Re: Smoking
^^ Yeah 6 quid for 16 in a pub does take the piss. I'v always preferred rollies though so its a bit cheaper.
Re: Smoking
i been smoking for 16 years... i smoke camel and lucky strikes... although the cigs available here in nz are no where near the qual of the ones from the states...
if anyone wantst to post me any - feel free :D
Re: Smoking

Re: Smoking

Re: Smoking

Re: Smoking
Well work is killing me. I'm smoking more and more. I know it's not an excuse, but fuck sometimes you just need a moment to yourself and having a cig is sorta reassuring. :(
Re: Smoking
^ yeah, its strange how u take comfort in a ciggie when u r stressed!
its probably the worse thing to do, but it gives u a moment to your self.
