Hey has anyone been to one? I want to go, cause my back is tight as all can be, but IO have heard stories that once you go, you will always have to go back. Any info greatly appreciated. thanks

If your back is tight as hell, you may want to try a massage first. As far as I know, chiropracters deal with the alignment of bones. My mother had great results with a chiropracter and eventually didn't need to go anymore...good luck!

You mean a chiropractor. No, I never been to one. But a friend of mine visited one once (because of back trouble) and he says it helped him.

Yeah they certainly can take away any pain you've got with bones or muscles just about anywhere on your body. My back cracked so loud when I went to one for the first time; you could here it down the hallway with the door closed, according to witnesses.

both of my parents started going to one now they seem to be addicted to it and go once a week, they say their backs are getting better because of it but i figure if their backs were getting better than why would they keep going? i think its temporary solution to an aggravating problem... id use some other form of therapy that may take longer but works the same... cheers

Ive gone to see many in the last past years, and they make u feel right, but the stress and other kind of trivial tension, makes u come back... It's good, try it!!!

Yeah I recently pulled my back moving and tried a chiro for the first time, I was very satisfied...You do have to go alot once you start but usually the longer you go the less amount of time you have to visit. I also reccommend getting a message when you go. Defiantly makes your back feel a whole lot better.

massages work, and also stretching/maybe doing some back extensions might help loosen things up a bit.

But you don't always have to go back...if they can fix it the first time ok, then you're good to go! :)

I enjoy going to the Chiropractor. I just hate paying for them. Shit, I hate paying for any type of doctor related thing. Overpriced bastards! As PM said though, you don't have to go back. Get your back adjusted and then take it from there.

Take it from someone that has been going their whole life for many reasons, (read: injuries), they are great. They (chiropractors) provide adjustments for your bones, sockets, etc. as well as relieve pressure that has been built up in your muscles. The majority of people need to visit a chiropractor for at least a consultation and to learn about how you, yourself, can go and take care of yourself with daily stretches and activities. The reason humans have so many muscle and skeletal problems is because we are the only mammal (creature) that when we wake up, we do not do our daily stretches that would put off the necessity of going to a chiropractor or other rated specialist(s).

i think the key is to find a good chiropractor. i went to one that did not help me at all.

a few years ago, i found a good one & go about once a month now. does help relieve back pain & neck & shoulder tension for me.

i suppose it is a temporary solution, but overall, my back is better than before i started going to this one.

I had started going to a Chiropractor when I was around 12. Now I have a herniated disk and will not go because they'll make that worse. If it's just a stiff back try a massage therapist first I've had very good result with them. See if you can get a hold of a medical massage therapist, they're rare but if you do that would be better. I've had better results from a medical massage therapist than going to a chiropracter and neurolists for my herniated disk in the last 7 years.

I've been to many chiropracters and neurologists. Of course they don't like each other. I think alot of chiropracters aren't into preventative adjustments. They want to keep having you comeback. It's like a sore they keep opening, it feels good a good hurt but they don't prevent anything....sometimes depends on your injury.

I went to one during the summer two years ago. After 2 months of treatment, I was good to go, and haven't had the need to go back. It really helped, too.

I have a herniated disc from a couple of years ago that finally healed. My recent MRI's showed my lower spine to be healthy than before. I am still hesitant to check out a chiropractor cause of that. I will be getting a massage tomorrow and see how I feel afterwards. It is just wacked, cause lately my back has been very tight and I have been cracking my neck too freakin much. It could be that I am stressed out, but my back is bothering me. Hopefully, my massage helps a bit. thanks for the info.

I don't trust them. My sister goes weekly or every other week to one. Last week she had pain in her back for like 4 days, and the chiropractor had no idea what the problem was. It's healed since then, but still I don't trust them :P
