As promised here is my version of the night as best as I can remember..

some pics from the night here: http://www.vpac.org/~behera/pics/Sasha@MetroMelbourne,011104/index.html

One of the best nights Ive had in a long time.. had a little but not much to do with Sasha's set, it was good even by his standards but nothing spectacular. walked in to hear Phil K starting off on the decks.. he played a really punchy set though he wasnt going all outlike he normally does.. he was just there to warm the crowd. he did play a really loud mix of u2 - discotheque.. sounds cheesy but it was a nice track. Sasha came on and bored the pants of everyone with this track for 10 mins.. obviously he was trying to slow things down so he could start again, phil's set ended on the harder side. when the basslines finally kicked in it was more relief than anything else. obviously he played his favourite "in a state". played a nice vocal track before it, which he was singing to and pretty pumped about. I could have sworn the music suddenly got really loud halfway through his set, but I guess that was just me :D he played the classic Ruhe towards the end of the set. nicely executed set, another day in the office for the man. I believe this was one of his first full sets on the laptop/ableton. dont think he even touched the cdjs. Kasey Taylor came to finish things off, and I cant believe how quickly his set was over and it was 8am. by the time I got up that afternoon, we had already missed the big race named after the city - but id miss it for a night like that any day of the week and twice on sundays.

Re: Sasha Nov1(Cup Eve)

I saw him in Hollywood a few weeks back and he did his whole set off his Mac and Ableton Live... I have to saw it was increadible seeing this side of his tallents, but the set didn't have the same feeling as the other thousand and one times that I've seen him. I don't know where he's gonna go with this whole laptop DJing business... I'm hopin' he decides to get back on the decks!

I saw Sasha in Perth a couple of days before he went to Melbourne. He played Ruhe in the Perth set too...and here I was thinking he'd played an oldie on the spur of the moment :( I can understand the newer tunes getting used in every set but you'd think he'd change it around a bit? oh well His laptop was with him next to the decks but he didn't seem to be using it much. From what I saw he had a wallet full of CD-Rs that he was selecting from and pushing through the CDJs, could be wrong though.

heheh sweet....i was there too!! it was his first time using his Laptop live that day....it was before his Australian tour, Oct 23rd to be exact!!! hehe he fucked up twice or 3 times in the early stages of his set.....reason bieng was.....the promoters took Sasha out for Sushi before he got on and he had one too many Saki bombs......Jimmy Van M was pissed because Sasha could barely mix that day!!! altho i enjoyed his set.....i think his July 3rd set at Avalon was the most amazing clubbing experience of my life!!!

No, fools! I was testing the battery at the 7-11. had to run out of the club cos the guy taking a photo said it wouldnt flash.. it eventually occurred to me that jason had told me to put some batteries in them.

Not too fussed I missed his Sydney gig. Reports have been a bit so-so.

Get this one peeps... Digweed is playing a show in Sydney on the 30th or something of this month (a Tuesday night). Apparently he is in town to visit his relatives, no one really knows he's here, and he's offered to play a secret private party for industry people only at Yu nightclub. Word got out on the weekend on inthemix, and the thread was deleted within the day. He's playing no other gigs and flies out after that :'(

Noree... Is that why he was running to the bathroom every 2 seconds!!! I remember the f--k ups too... It was as if his mini-jack to his laptop got unplugged or something! I was like.... Damn, there's a first! I saw Digweed mess up a year back and now its Sasha!

As for the promoters... What where they thinking? Forking up so much cash for this guy and getting him drunk before his set!

Jimmy... Well, let's just say I've seen him do WAY better sets back in the Twilo days. :?

Hehehe yeah! i was in the smoking patio having a cig and smokin some weed as usuall and i hear everyone screaming and i already know its Sasha coming thru!!! his eyes were so fucked.....heheh but like i said in a previous post i would much rather have him fucked up and more relaxed then sober because he's more into his music when he's shit faced!! As far as Jimmy....it was my first time seeing him live so i thought he was ok....he was veeeeery boring in the begining...then finally gave us some good before the man took the decks!! the best part about it is Sasha is back in December BABY!!!! but seeing that you have been to Twilo back in the day i dont see these sets ever comparing to those beauteeez!! so what part of LA r u from? go clubbing every week?

must have been a great night i love schiller's ruhe, heard it first on digweed mix, but i wouldnt believe sasha would play it i was wondering sasha's set was a harder set (as tempo) then he usualy plays? i noticed that sasha tends to put more tempo in his sets, not that dreamy , how he played a couple of years ago
