you guys had so many people around you that cared, loved and bothered with you.

im a relative ms virgin compared to some of you stalwarts and i know i havent talked to a lot of you guys but i wanted to talk right now....

im 30, i used to be a pill, speed n coke freak until 2000 i then turned into a bit of a piss head and lost the only girl/woman i have ever loved.

i was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, had a serious op, had over half of my stomach and oesophagus removed. i was told it had spread and i would need chemo one day. that seriously scares the shit out of me. i love working out a the gym and i know when i have chemo it is gonna impare that but fuck it you only get one life.

Re: cancer

So you're gonne have to have chemo in the future? Damnit. Live life as you want to do it then mate, because you said it: you only get one. It depends on the intensity of the chemo, but if it works you should be able to shape up again afterwards, I just don't know to which extent (well...thinking of Lance Armstrong...). Only thing I do know is that it's hell starting from scratch.

Maybe the bigger question though is the quality of life you have now...the fear of the pain is usually much worse than the pain itself. That is one lesson I've learned.

Re: cancer

I am sorry to hear about everything you have gone through.....if you need to talk we are all here for you.

Like Yao said you need to live life to the fullest every day. When times get tough during chemo you can look back on the fond memories you've made and use those to motivate you to pull through. You can use those memories to help you work towards becoming strong again....so you can get back to doing the things you love.

A close friend of mine is going through radiation treatment right now after her mastectomy this year from breast cancer. I see it taking a lot out of her, but she keeps on trucking! She is an amazing person and so determined to pull through.

Re: cancer

Here for ya brother whenever. Life on life's terms is very tough but I believe we are never given more than we can handle. It's always hard but i this is where we grow the most. Bout a year ago my only son was diagnosed with Autism, most painful thing I ever heard in my life. i wanted to numb the pain, hurt somebody or just have someone to blame. But everything's ok today. you are brave adzey and thanks for sharing this with us. i've found life is much easier when I stay in the moment. tomorrow isnt guaranteed and yesterday is in the books. Hang tough man.

Re: cancer

I've got a good story, a english girl I knew from clubbing here, went back to england, diagnosed with cancer , had lots of chemo and it didn't seem to be working, But she is now in remission and sending incoherent texts from events like creamfields. :D Hopefully your story will end the way hers has , but without as much of the chemo . At one stage she was just pissed off and wanted to give up. A lot of people are really glad she didn't. :)

Btw I'm with Yao as well!!! Live life to the fullest!!

Re: cancer

Adam, it sounds like you've had an incredibly tough week mate .. and I'm really sorry to hear about your friend.

I suppose the only thing I can say is that we should all enjoy life and the things that enhance it, never undervaluing or taking for granted our family and friends. Its the happy memories that give us solace and help us through the yougher and darker times.

Plus for a lot of us, music is an important part of our lives... it'll always be there for us and is the one thing that we can rely on and trust to put a smile on our faces when we didn't think it was possible.

[ms] and this on-line community enhances our love of music, and more importantly gives us so much more, as recent events have shown the amazing bond and unity that exists 24/7 across continents through this board.

People who we would never otherwise have know have touched all of our lives, and that's a wonderful and special thing.

Re: cancer

im really sorry to hear about your struggle AdzeybuB. I have heard some really inspiring stories about people overcoming cancer though. It is possible!!!

without getting too preachy, i'll tell ya a close friend's Grandmother overcame this same obstacle by religiously drinking vegetable juices. Carrot, alfalfa sprouts, beets, celery, cucumber, endive, fennel, garlic, onion, parlsley, kale, romaine lettuce, parsnip, red pepper, sorrel and spinach are the most valuable raw materials from what i have heard!!!

Re: cancer

mate this appears to be the week of bad news and I really really hope things get better for you. you may not have been on ms for a long time but that's not what it takes to get close to genuine people.

I hope nothing but the best for your recovery and the future.

Re: cancer

^ Sorry to hear that. Hopefully they will soon find a cure for cancer and free so many helpless people that are struck by it.

Since I chose to live in Lebanon, loosing friends has somehow become of something "normal", sadly! Here life sometimes becomes meaningless, especially when you see close people die for stupid reasons like accidents, terrorist reasons or others.

But I have to admit that loosing a friend because he decided to take his own life, takes the sad experience to whole new level...:(

Wishing the best of luck to you!

Sorry to hear that bro. I will say this, though -- treatment for cancer has come far over the years, so keep a positive outlook and you'll be back up and at the gym in no time. My sister in law just wrapped up treatment for cancer as well, and I'll tell you what, it was a really tough time for her, but now she's cancer free, looks great, feels great and as an outsider looking in, seems to be a better person as a result.

Odd that something so seemingly tragic ended up being such a positive force for her, but hey, it is what you make of it, I suppose.

In the meantime, carpe diem.

Re: cancer

Adam

In 05 I was diagnosed with skin cancer, and whist the cancer itself was caught relatively earlier, the radiotherapy I received did me far more damage than the cancer.

Last week I received my two year all clear, and whilst that's joyous in itself, what for me has been more important, are the choices I have made since my original diagnosis.

I normally brush off comments like the one I'm about to make, but here goes anyway - your frame of mind is essential. You must believe that with the treatments you will receive you will come out stronger and healthier.

Stay focused and in the present time - life is good on the other side of the treatments mate, it really is.

Good luck and stay positive.

David

Re: cancer

one more thing dude... medicinal pot ;) it will save your ass.

i watched a doco on it and there was a cancer sufferer chick who had a really really reduced suffering rate while she was sick compared to the pills. there is even some evidence to support that thc molecules inhibit and in some cases remiss the growth of the cells in rats and mice. Even tho i completely abhor the testing on animals, this is definately food for thought. The same test had a control group - what they were actually testing is whether or not the smoke produced from smoking it was as carcinogenic as the smoke from tobacco. the pot was found to inhibit the growth and cause the death of the cancer cells, there was no change on the control, and tobacco made it worse.

take from this what you will...

THEN MOVE TO AMSTERDAM!
