I just moved to LA this week and was wondering if there are any other [ms] users in the area? What are the usual good spots to check out? I was just at Incognito @ King King for Halloween and had a blast. Any other nights that support Progressive and Tech House?

There is a place on Thursdays that plays great deep house for only a $5 cover. Place is called Akbar on Fountain and Sunset.

Also for a more chill out night, check out the roof top at The Standard in the heart of downtown. get there early to avoid a hefty cover charge. Its a good opener to a night out.

I'll think of more, haven't really gone out locally to smaller type venues; only to the places Hypo mentioned when certain dj's are in town. But for a regular night; gotta think about those

Check the events forum to see where i've been. I support the incognito, Avalon, Standard parties with different promoters. DROOG(avalon residents), avalon, incognito, some traffic events parties.

i frequent LA spots on occasions, monday night social is my favorite. there is actually a sustained and growing deep/house scene here in Orange County though, thankful for that. it would be heavensent if we had more pr0g n Tech influence though.

I dont know, imo, clubs in l.a. suck. Unless their venues that book the good dj's like Howells, digweed, etc.. and cater to electronic only.

All other regular clubs play crap! its' 20 min of crap rap, 20 min of berlin, the cure 80's, daft punks around the world and then some trendy bullshit alternative from the radio along with stupid mashups!

That's why I go to dive bars were the music is much more unique and 100000000000x better!

Plus you dont have to deal with all the stupid posers with their stupid outfits n' shit. :roll:

as far as trance being dead in l.a... I think they still play sandstorm at some clubs lol, weak!

Pretty much, gosh.. I hope so.. There is still the old Circus which used to be promoted by the old Spundae and GIANT back in the day when top trance came through every week. There was one place long ago that I went to every Wednesday night for 2 straight years! It was an all 80's/new wave night. the 2 dj's played the best obscure and popular tracks, but they mixed it sooooo damn welll.. flawless like Digweed, but just 80's... oh I want a deep house night like that!
