why so?
beause he should be a lot higher, he is one of the few djs/producers that is actually really good at both

Re: dj mag poll results

^ you mean more people should consider him one of thier 5 most favourite dj's?

#1108314Post 43 of 89

Re: dj mag poll results

^ yes. favorite in the sense of quality. what Steve said. hands down, he is that fucking good. even if people don't like his style(s), he is that pro, and should be more wreckonized. omfg i'm so biased, but still..

btw. has he done an essential mix yet?... wtf.

Re: dj mag poll results

Lame as usual.

Why don't we do our own top 100 poll here on MS? How hard would it be to rig something like that up?

#1108392Post 49 of 89

Re: dj mag poll results

Re: dj mag poll results

The point I find funny here is why does anyone one here care, anymore, it is the same shite every year, except I think last year Sasha and Diggers might have been 4 and 6, would have figured with a Spring Tour in the US, they might have gotten a bit of a boost from the younger crowd, but did not, as long as AVB, PVD, and the other knobs are headlining large arena shows, the cracked raver candy kid community will send them via facebook heaven into all the top slots. Some people are just not ready for the deep, heavy, mind bending tracks that people on MS like to listen to, for example whenever Diggers cranked it up around 3:30am at any Vegas show, the vortex would just destroy half the crowd, send them running in mortal fear, some folks cannot handled that intensity, sound that which can't be ran from. MS members from my experience will listen to all styles of music, but do not like to be told, such music as the shite the trance top 5 are playing is groundbreaking, I recently suffered through an AVB set a few months back, damn the missus, it was nothing but stripped out techno with some prog melodies, and the occasional vocal breakdown, one track right after another, no build or flow, no storytelling with music, just eat some pills, get out the glowsticks and start gurning. If you want to do a poll I would suggest having one with new artists of 2008 and a favorites which will roughly be Digweed, Sasha, Cattaneo, Zabiela, and Howells for a top five, then fight it out over the rest.
The point I find funny here is why does anyone one here care, anymore, it is the same shite every year
I don't think its that people care all that much, its more just realizing the crap at the top again. Its like you said...AVB plays stripped out techno with a bit of prog and cheesy lyrics and everyone loves him. I remember those days....I use to think trance was the end all that be all and that AVB was the greatest....its a phase that people who listen to dance music go through....everyone on this board can't deny they use to love trance at some point in their journey through dance/electronic music

My idea to have a poll is simply to see how the members would have changed the voting. There are a ton of members on this site that don't even necessarily post that often so I would be curious to see the outcome and see if Sasha and Diggers really took the # 1 and 2 spots.
dj mag poll results

This has got to be wrong

 1. Armin van Buuren
 2. Tiësto
 3. Paul van Dyk
 4. Above & Beyond
 5. David Guetta
I feel sick reading the top 5 & FFS David GAYuetta @ Num 5 !!
I like the idea on an [ms] poll. It would be fun.
polls are stupid no matter who sets them up and who participates in them. "Best" is subjective. Someone above said, "Who cares" - exactly, a list doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is what is best to [you]. do we need a 10 page thread and a poll to end up right in the same place we are now? no.

#1108718Post 59 of 89

Re: dj mag poll results

^ you wouldn't be saying this if Digweed was #1 on that list!

edit: changed cattaneo to digweed.

now what!

#1108722Post 60 of 89

Re: dj mag poll results

^doesnt matter who is #1 on the list. it's "lists" that are the problem. btw, kinda proves my point, cattaneo does nothing for me.

#1108755Post 61 of 89

Re: dj mag poll results

I don't know why people get so upset about it. Its not a poll to state who has the best technical ability or who mixes the best. Its purely down to who is the most popular.

The thing with this poll is every DJ website you go to has a link to the poll. So i does matter to them.

I found Lee Burridge's statement a few years ago more offensive about the number of Djs using PR or marketing companies to raise their profile and then insinuating people voted for them because they where well marketed. I don't think any of the top Djs in the poll are there because they where well marketed, yeah it mite of helped. I think they voted for Armin van Buuren or Tiësto because they liked them. There's no rite or wrong. That type of music just has a greater appeal to most people.

Re: dj mag poll results

unfortunately lists are what a lot of clueless club owners and club goers make decisions on whom to book and whom to go see

christ these poll threads are a like a fuckin dog chasing its tail, lol

Re: dj mag poll results

An MS poll would be very interesting and at least would represent who is actually has the most talent and plays the best soudns...

but obviusly dig would be number one every year on an ms poll

No it wouldn't.

Re: dj mag poll results

Regardless, an MS poll would be very cool. If we could come up with a nice list and the mods can put this on the front of the site so ''most" ms members can see it and vote.. I mean its beyond 12,000 right?

do it!!!

#1108843Post 66 of 89

Re: dj mag poll results

^ it would be kinda cool. i mean, the GU board and the bedrock boards (and us too) have been calling the DJMAG list a bunch of shit for years.

bout time somebody do something. and i'm sure it would be good for publicity and donations.

Sander in the 50's and Howells in the 100's that is laughable..
