Maybe center the flags and leave out 'location'? Makes it nices to look at. And very maybe my European flag back? I kinda liked that, and gives a rough description of my position.

While I'm at it... just tried to update my country flag and got this:

that's odd, what you tried to do doesnt even require you to update the user table. try it again and let me know if it keeps doing it or even close this browser, open a new one and then try it.......

There seems to be a conflict between 'Location' and the country flag ? ie. there is no space to write your location. I don't know about the US guys but I can't get the EU flag to come up next to, or instead of, the country flag. 'Boy George's smack den...' is no more :NotMe:

well the script is rewritten to incorporate the US states (by the mod author) so unless I reqwrite the SQL an increase queries again, its gonna be hard to change it

you cant get rid of it ? not sure I follow.... as for what I posted.... what I mean is that the original country flags MOD was written by a member of the phpbb team. He incorporated the flags into the user profile which was embedded into the DB. When that happens, everytime the user profile was displayed in a post, it pulls data from the relevant table and results in increasing queries. Thats what made the old board slow because it was so fucking modded.

THIS version of the country flag mod is actually rewritten to look for a file in a folder and runs a php query (as opposed to a mysqly query) and pulls the relevant image. This mod author (for some reason) wrote it where only state flags from the US would be displayed. Since I am not good in php, I dont know how to edit it.

so unless I implement the one with the MySQL queries, I wont be able to implement what you are looking for.

As for you not being able to rid your image, try it a couple of times, I know it was giving me strange errors before.

If I go to Profile, the drop-down menu just says Country and the current chosen country is written next to it. So if I update the profile having just chosen 'country' it stays the same ? does that make sense? I can change the country flag but I can't unchoose a country...

Not to worry, don't want to sound like I'm moaning ? doesn't really matter. What you do with computers, as far as I'm concerned, is pure genius.

i think we can try to leave the board as it is now. it is faster and better so i guess we can sacrifice the country flag for faster browsing... love the new look too :)

Not really a port from previous versions, but I actually find there's a useful feature on another forum (running phpBB I think - not sure of version) where if you hover over a topic title link, you get a preview of the first couple of lines of text.

More helpful for really heavily trafficked boards, but still a cool little feature. :)

Any chance this will be making a reappearance?

you mean the MY DASHBOARD Mod ?? That one will most likely not make it back - simply because its consuming a lot of SQL Queries..... and the idea behind coming back to the vanilla version was to speed up the forums....

Yeah I thought it was obvious flags were back :roll: Nuts to the games I say... unless they really had minimal effect on the board. Ever since phpbb-amod.com got shut down basically (well all the games were taken off) there's basically no reason to take on the hassle of legal problems that might be created through unlicensed game usage. Plus there's like 500 sites with flash/java games why not just open another window and play games? It was convenient but not that convenient so..... down with the games I say :shock: :RockOn:
