Re: new_iPod

There's also some talk that Apple will come out with flash memory players in order to tap into that market.

We'll see...

Re: new_iPod

the hefty price tag $499 for 40 gig, and $599 for 60 gig. i think apple is going in the wrong direction with their new ipod. who cares about being able to see photos on one's ipod. i mean , all cell phones these days, and digital cameras provide this service already. bad move apple.

Re: new_iPod

It seems that the Ipod may be one of those devices that will be continuously updated. Before you know it, apple will incorporate a 100 GB hardrive, a camera, a toster oven, and a coffee maker into the ipod. What I'm trying to say is that no matter when you buy one, they will always be coming out with a better model.

that would be interesting to see .. should be more expensive but solid state is more reliable.

actually I am waiting when someone will incorporate everything that should fit into your palm into one device ... so real mp3 player +phone +camera + all the features of high end palm devices. Make it cheap too ;)

Re: new_iPod

i finally decided that i'm gonna buy an mp3 player, and i was thinking of getting the ipod 4th gen 20 gigger. i was wondering how i can find out if my files will be supported by the ipod. i right clicked several of my files and checked properties to see what type of files they are, but they only say that they are winamp media files (since i use winamp). how can i go about checking if they are mp3 or wav and not wma's or any other file that it may not play???

Re: new_iPod

Have you heard about the "black" special edition that is coming out with the release of U2's new album.

http://www.apple.com/ipod/u2/

If you're into U2, and want to a pay a premium for something a bit different, it could be fun.

I keep hearing about how the iPod batteries suck. So I don't want one.

i did, but where it says file type, it says that they are winamp media files. i don't know if that means that they are wma's in which case are not playable in ipod, or whatever. can any ipod owner's help?

i changed the player from winamp to win media player and now the file types say mp3 format sound. so i guess they can be played on an ipod?

Re: new_iPod

When will manufactures cut-to-the-chase and produce a device that is a phone, mp3 player, photo/video camera and has a 4Gb micro hard drive. That will sell - BIG TIME!

I have a creative MoVo2 and am very happy with the build and performance. When i look at the MoVo2 and my Nokia7600, i cant see any reason why both cant be integrated.

It maybe a marketing strategy but hurry up u Japs!

my ipod just died while trying to update the software...i'm pissed

#288937Post 22 of 28

I think the ipod is overrated. Just plain marketing from the guys at apple. The after sales service is great though. :)

The device I would like to see would have the following functionalities :

 1. Mp3 player
 2. Mobile phone
 3. Digital camera
 4. PDA functionalities

Drool~~

I have a 20GB 4G and i'm really happy with it. The battery life is good, the interface/software works fine.

I don't think much of the iPod with photo capabilities though...seems kind of pointless.

As a ms user i would reckon that you would know how to view the extension types. But incase you're unaware, open your music storage folder, then go to "tools" on the taskbar, then "folder options", click the "view" tab, scroll down and uncheck "hide extensions for known file types" and then click "apply". Now look in your music folder and all your music should contain a .mp3,.wma, etc to the end of it.

By the way, .wma files are compatible with the ipod and itunes. Once you drag the files into your itunes playlist, the software automatically converts and stores the song as an ipod compatible media.

Hope this helps :)

With the new Treo waiting in the wings, things are headed that way. But - these are way too expensive. Maybe in 2-3 years...
