his recent tour of the south USA is arguably some of his best work yet... at least in my opinion.

that KKK hanging is just amazing.

Re: Banksy visits the US south

the stuff he did in nola that you see that is over gray paint, the gray is actually done by a guy known as the gray ghost who goes around painting over graffiti. There's one he did of a stick person being painted over by the gray ghost. It's some pretty amazing stuff.

I appreciate the stuff Banksy puts out, brilliant guerrilla art

#1076274Post 15 of 41

Re: Banksy visits the US south

i love this guys art! At first i wasn't into it because it was a fad of sorts in the graffiti world, a ploy for cheap/quick fame a thought, but now in 08 he's been at it on a world scale level for more than 5 years. Props!

Re: Banksy visits the US south

here is what happened to the one in Alabama:

Very sad indeed. :(

thing would have been worth at least $20K++ if it was removed properly... oh well =\

i'm pretty sure it pissed them off quite a bit.

Re: Banksy visits the US south

you cant run from your past!

the little history they've got they need to accept!

#1077047Post 20 of 41

Re: Banksy visits the US south

problem is there's still a lot of racism there, so it's not exactly their past.

Re: Banksy visits the US south

I love Banksy, have for years... but this doesn't seem like the right time or place. Much like his Paris Hilton stunt this seems a little low.

i didnt hear about the paris stunt. what did he do?

i by no means have my finger of the pulse of what is going on down there right now, but why is this bad timing? wouldn't it be good to call attention to the kind of things he is highlighting at a time where there are huricanes lining up one after another, and a US election eminent.

well doesnt seem like they are exactly proud of it! :what

#1077195Post 27 of 41

Re: Banksy visits the US south

Banksy is a genius.

Sorry Palmer but I dont agree with you about the timing. Whilst racism exists then the statement is warranted. If evil exists then theres no putting off fighting it - whatever form it takes.

I know im new here but hey, dont hold it against me for pulling my pants down and taking a crap in the corner!

Thanks for the welcome Dhar!

Didnt know there was someone called pickle on here when I put in my location - not my intended meaning!

Guess it will make a bit more sense when I get my avatar loaded up but its currently in BMP format and MS wont accept that - know of any BMP to JGP converters?

meh.

Banksy's work is profound and sweet, lmao at the wimps who erased his art.

#1077410Post 37 of 41

Re: Banksy visits the US south

Glad he finally made it down here.

Truly is a great battle between him and the uber douche Fred Radke (aka The Grey Ghost). That's what the stencils of the guy w/ the paint roller are directed towards.

Most of the works here in New Orleans are in tucked out of the way neighborhoods. Wish he would pull some high profile work like he did in the Shoreditch and other East London areas.

#1077464Post 38 of 41

Re: Banksy visits the US south

Isn't there enough to clean up down there without him spraypainting all over the place? While his work is amazing- it would just seem to be "one more thing" to deal with....

Re: Banksy visits the US south

there actually done on card and fixed to the wall from what i understand.

that way they cant do him for defacing property
there actually done on card and fixed to the wall from what i understand.

nope.

it is stencil art... meaning he cuts each stencil from, usually, abunch of cardboard boxes and then lays them on the side of a building or whatever and spray paints them.

it is quite effective graffiti because you do all the work at home and it only takes a minute or two to spray paint over it onto the building. very quick.

there are youtube videos of him making a stencil out there somewhere.
