have fun another MS party???? in p-cola
a true hurricane parrrTAY
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
The path has been slowly but consistently tracking further to the west. Either way I'm not happy about this because if it stays on the current path, New Orleans gets the wreck-your-shit northeastern part of the storm. If it keeps going west, Houston gets fucked. Sucks that my two adopted hometowns are in the middle of hurricane land. :what

Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
I can feel for you guys, we're usually sitting on the ends of our chairs watching the developement of these storms here, when they pass to the south of us it usually means trouble in the Gulf, now we have to keep our eyes on Hanna. Get prepared if you're in the cone of uncertainty guys, don't wait until the chaos of the last minute rush at Home Depot and the grocery stores.
Be Safe Everyone
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
I'm not sure what to do just yet. If we leave, we have to act like we're not coming back (packing up valuables, personal items, electronics, emptying out the fridge ect.) If they start contra-flow (ha, sounds like something digweed would do to us) on the interstates, then we won't be able to get back into the city if we do leave. So, I'm waiting till Sunday night to leave, if evacuation become mandatory. This shit sucks balls, by the way. If anything like Katrina happens again here in NOLA, we can pretty much kiss living here goodbye. Hello life changing experience...nice to meet you.
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
^^^^did they ever get those levees fixed so they can with stand a cat 4 or 5 hurricane?
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!

FYI - Jib is now an official resident of Hurricane Alley - Pensacola!

you can see a lot of hurricanes begin over the west end of Africa over the Sahara.
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
actually thats where the majority of Hurricanes start..warm winds from the Sahara heading west into the major ocean stream and then into the jetstream....

Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
I am soooo glad this one isn't coming near me! Unfortunately it's going to land somewhere and there's nothing that can be done except prepare. I know that's a little selfish to say but we still have water in our ditches from Fay. Everyday it goes down just a little bit, but I don't think we could handle another storm right now with all of the rain Fay dumped on us.
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
left nola at 8. Mandatory evacuations start tomorrow morning so we decided to head out early. Still took us 3 hours to go 60 miles! Going to Monroe in the morning if this thing is still on track. It's weird to have to decide what to bring and what to leave. Had to leave behind my entire cd collection :(
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
Been keeping up with the news , It's not looking good!! They are saying worse than Katrina! :( Hope you are all kept safe.
I'm sure we will help renew music collections !
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
yeah, that's the least I should worry about. Insurance will cover it all if something happens.
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
^^^ I can fully understand worrying about your cd collection!! :)

Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
Glad to hear people are being smart and leaving the area....its definitely better to be safe in this situation. My thoughts are with all of you in the effecting area for the next few days...be safe!
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
Been watching this in the news: good luck to all living in the areas threatened by this.
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
Storm weakened a bit it seems. May only hit as Cat 3 per MSNBC. Do CDs float?

Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!

Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
The pounding has started. Pensacola dodged another bullet. Lots of heavy rain and swirling wind right now. NOLA is starting to get smacked as we I type.
Re: Hurrican GUSTAV...here we go again!
taken from a msnbc story titled "A hardend few choose to ride out Gustav" http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26493021/
But the French Quarter was far from empty.
Hattie Callan, 36, weaved her way down the street Sunday, a vodka drink already in her hand and it only 9:20 in the morning. She was staying behind to watch over several houses, and she wasn't worried.
"I've got liquor, cash, food, ammo and weed," she said as she floated out of sight.
