I have to say that this is a very fuckin big thank you !

Once it gets going, hands down it beats all other sets over the past few years (and to these ears some have been mediocre).

Just wish he played like this all the time :RightOn:

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

totally agree red1, this set just does nothing for me at all.

he needs to drop the boring minimal prog stuff, leave that to digweed!

on the other hand though, involver 2 is well class.

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

Its funny - some prefer the Creamfields mix others the amnesia. Looks like ... different venues/different crowds/different weather produced different styles of sets.

Some of the amnesia comments below:

"i loooove my melodies so this thank you mix was a nice treat" "this is the sasha of old for me and until this mix about 10minutes in...... i reqlly didnt think he had this kinda music in his box anymore...... its just proves to me that like a switch he can move from style to style and all his recent stuff on emFire and now the techy invol2ver is just him involving on his musical journey as a musician for the longest time i missed that melodic prog sets of his but the lqst two thqnk you mixes have just been a melodic dreamscqpe....... saying to me i can do it when i want to but i chose not to....... lll finish with this .......if id been in ammenisa i would of cryied...... cause this mix is beautiful" "lovely" "this thank you mix is waaay better than his essential mix from creamfields... i'm an hour into this & i'm not gonna lie here..it's the sh!t" "i need the name of the tune that starts at 1:28.43 and also the one that starts at 1:02.32 and finaly the tune that starts at 42:30" "Fucking hell The Wave will be masturbating furiously when he See's this"

The last classic comment was Chunky's :roflmao:

no i meant the flow, that sound does nothing for me now.

wheres all the spark went ?

guess u cant expect that everytime thought after all he's human but u would think that with the amount of tunes coming his way there must be better than that surely.

Out of interest red1 what are your favourite Sasha mixes recent and old ?

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

Just want to bitch about this set real quick.

On the intro, I'm promised the "World's Best DJ's on the World's Best Turntables". I was not promised "the world's best laptop or Maven controller". I've been decieved....

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

have to say m8 that the essential mix in 2005 was deff one of the best mixes i,ve heard in my entire life, that was him on fire, never heard anything like that in my life, i had a shitload of sasha mixes but i deleted the lot so i dont know simon, there were many around the period of 2005 and even further back that were outstanding

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

Thanks red1 ... just gives me an insight into what you like - the Maida Vale EM was special, I actually saw him at Fabric that night and he played a pretty decent set with some of the music from that EM ... the rest of 2005 and 2006 I found his sets a real mixed bag, and (amnesia'07 aside) the 2007/08 sets have been disappointing.

There were some other exceptions (parts of Avalon, Warung, Studio) .. his better sets were with Diggers (2005 Southfest and Bonaroo).

Personally I like Sasha either very dark (but with beats) - 2000/2001 was a good period for this with Tel Aviv, Space etc. or with melodies (up to 1999 and then 2002 - 2004 with La Locomotive through to Pacha).

I think his amnesia set has more of a flow, is more melodic and housey in parts. Just my opinion.

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

the trouble is were all getting a bit used to hearing something special from sasha, he's only human, you cant expect that 24/7/365

lately its just been complete mince though, its like ur hearing another dj play

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

Agree with Red1. There have been sooooo many world class sets from him that the recent stuff the past couple years just doesn't hold a candle to the current. I thought his early stuff through 2002 was superb. Okyo probably my fave during that period. Then 2005 in my opinion was his peak. Axis, Maida Vale, Lithuania, Lush, Aria, and Kristal New Year's to name a few, also agree the em 2007 was fantastic. The 2008 Creamfields Em and thank you mix were good and definitely a step up from previous sets. They just don't measure up to the past but I'll continue to grab every set because he has the talent to really move your soul unlike any DJ I've ever listened to(ok Digweed too). It's just hard not to measure his current stuff to the past.

Oh that is soo brilliant. Almost NONE of the DLVDJ's use turntables anymore anyway. about the closest thing they come to tables is the cdj's.

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

digweeds far far far better now than he's ever been

i used to hate his style, was never really a fan untill recent

kind of crazy though as i used to listen more to sasha one the northern exposure cd but now i'd rather listen to the digweed part, getting old

i agree, the mix is good, but am i the only one who notices he bangs it out for 28 minutes, and then......the energy level drops at the track at about 29 minutes in? and then he slowly rebuilds the set again? what was up with that?

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

not anymore since i started law school. I had a residency and have played in multiple cities. I made decent money too. I did have a radio show, too.

ultimately it was the start of school plus getting tinnitus (look it up, i'm big on DJ's protecting thier ears) that took me off the decks. I have considered jumping back into the game despite the hearing condition. we'll see how that goes.

speaking of, Does anyone know who Kurosh Nasseri is???

He's giving them time to go to the can and then grab a beer!

Re: Sasha - live @ amnesia, ibiza "thank you mix"

Hearing this set in a club would do it proper justice, as far as Sasha 2005 v Sasha 2008 that Warung set is a monster, but that Invol2ver promo thing was just as great, bring on the US tour.

The differing views are interesting .. suppose it boils dowon to your views on dark-sasha, trancey-sasha and clicky-sasha !
