how many of u enjoy listening to drum and bass ?

i know from my own experiences from other boards that some other countries outside of the uk absolutely hate it.

i cant really understand that as being kind of old i grew up listening to it in its early stages and tbh like any other gene of edm its progressed into a maturer sound in parts.

Re: be honest here

Enjoy it but not crazy about it. Drum n bass--like breaks--is one of the flavours of EDM that is a nice break from prog or tech.

Re: be honest here

I love drum n Bass! Logical Progression w/MC Conrad was where it was at for me.. It's what got me into this whole mess in the first place. :)

Re: be honest here

I never really got into it.Wasn't exposed to d-n-b when i was growing up,unlike house, trance, etc. When I do go to the random d-n-b nights, I'm there to support a friend of mine that spins.Other than that I could careless.

Re: be honest here

I like it. I really like that energy in it. But some years ago, it wasn't my cup of tea.

#1053894Post 7 of 44

Re: be honest here

nothing against it but not a fan ... usually could only take 30mins of it before my head explode

#1053896Post 8 of 44

Re: be honest here

I dig it when it's good. Don't care for Jungle though. LTJ is the way.

#1053897Post 9 of 44

Re: be honest here

In moderation. And more on the ambient side.

#1053899Post 10 of 44

Re: be honest here

DnB is lovely music. Check out High Contrast. Adam F. Goldie. LTJ. There's nothing like listening to prog all week, and then waking up sunday morning to some lush jazzy hooks.

It's jungle that sucks. noise for the sake of making noise.

Re: be honest here

boom boom chick chicka chicka boom chick....Bllaaaammmm Bllooooomm! Jungle can be annoying.

Re: be honest here

me. it is red bull in my speakers.

#1053918Post 13 of 44

Re: be honest here

i love it tbh but not the clownstep side of things which is a bit erm erm erm ermmmm u know what i mean, liquid dnb is outstanding in my eyes especially some of the stuff which has a jazzy feel to it....i like the moody side of it as well but sometimes its over done. recently though i,ve noticed that some of its been going minimal in someways...been playing around with a synth today trying to make a techstep basssline lol

its not as easy as everyone thinks

Re: be honest here

i love it, even tough im primarely a techno dj, ive been booked a couple of times to play drum n bass.

heres a nice little mix i did a couple of weeks back.

http://www.sendspace.com/file/31z0t2 its weird cuz if im stressing out, d&b will most likely relax me in a really cool way.

Re: be honest here

I really like smooth & sexy DnB,like bukem style. My best friend(also roomate) plays amazing DnB.I think steve james can back me up on this.

one thing that i've notice DnB dj's as of late,is how they r switching to playing Electro. reason is that its easy for them to get more gigs (told by other DnB djs that i've spoked too). is this happening in your scene lately?

cheers hafid

Tell me what the main difference between bassline and drum & bass is...

i find that most people are funny about it especially in scotland, out of everyone i,ve met in scotland and know well i can honestly say there has only been 2 people who i know well that actually like drum and bass. what i like about it most is that it has energy but still remains to be easy listening if u get what i meen by that, will check out ur mix :) thanks

tbh i,m only listening to a few stuff i buy or mixes i download which isnt much @ the moment, i download a mix from marcus intalex which i posted on the board on friday i think and its dam good which brought up me asking this question. the electro thing is very much noticable in the new noisia fabric cd as they tend to play dnb then switch to a 4/4 with more electro sounds, i think john b has alot to answer for when it comes to electro thing with drum and bass. i,m loving both the liquid scene and also the techstep scene @ the mo.

Re: be honest here

Not a fan .. but don't mind elements thrown in from time to time.

#1053987Post 19 of 44

Re: be honest here

I'll listen to LTJ Bukem's older stuff when I need a d & b fix, other than that I'm not big into it

#1053993Post 20 of 44

Re: be honest here

I like it, but only for a certain amount of time....I can listen for an hr or two, but definitely not a whole night of it. It's also one of those styles you just need to be in the mood for

#1054066Post 21 of 44

Re: be honest here

listened to it once upon a time, but now i cant be arsed. it grates on me!

#1054068Post 22 of 44

Re: be honest here

Its all good and I dig it from time to time but slow it down and it sounds like straight up hip hop.

#1054078Post 23 of 44

Re: be honest here

I like some...when it gets too heavy, not so much. I went to a lot of raves years ago and I always liked the drum n bass room :)

Yes yes yes. Bukem reigns supreme in the D&B stakes. 8)

Re: be honest here

Slightly off track but a similar music, does anyone like dubstep? I saw Caspa and Rusko at the weekend and iv gotta say i was well impressed. Jumping round like a loon to slow basslines like that was pretty strange though but good fun.

#1057308Post 28 of 44

Re: be honest here

Not a fan...I have a constant ringing in my ears from attending these concerts as a kid...Drum and Bass is my scape goat.

#1057378Post 29 of 44

Re: be honest here

If its good. Which to me would be the liquid and drumfunk style of DnB. Artists like d bridge, commix, martyn, Marcus intalez' among others. Not much a fan of the hard as nails tech step or ragga styles for longer than 20 minutes.

#1057381Post 30 of 44

Re: be honest here

Dubstep is another that I can only really get into for small doses. Its great for chill or laid back but lacks the pick up to make me wanna dance. Lots of it sounds like it is stuck in a breakdown and never comes out.

I really like dancehall. It's kinda like drum and bass raggae. Fuck yeah.

Re: be honest here

leaving planet earth is one of my all time, all around favorite songs, not limited to my love of EDM, just music in gerneal. that song has an effect on me....

Re: be honest here

Ltj-bukem style stuff ya.

the rest is utter garbage. i'm sorry to generalize, but aphrodite et al need their hearing examined.

techstep is quality...i think guys like teebee and calyx are outstanding, tbh i think teebee is one of the darkest things to ever hit the dance music scene as a whole

atmospheric dnb is pretty good. LTJ!!!

Re: be honest here

nrmal dnb is ok i guess. chris echo, concord dawn, hive n such do it well.

truely, im a avid fan of the UK soularized liquid funk though...they all do that ish so well over there... (hospital records, tidal, LTJ, danny byrd. ASC, rubiks records etc. etc.)

the best thing imho about dnb is the progressive atmospheric, technosphere dnb.(fused with minmal) ...that stuff is healing no doubt... and sometimes im really game for the electromiciding dnb that matrix and futurebound put out. good stuff!

Re: be honest here

I Will agree that there are some tech step artists pushing things, but as a whole the sun genre is lacking.

I have heard anatomy, sold out of my shop in no time.
