Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
No, but the economy is tanking hardcore, so it must be true....
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
good lord. it just keeps getting worse and worse for them. if he ends up doing it, expect the most bomb-filled 2 discs you've ever heard. the guy doesn't stop with the peak-time tunes.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
At least Nick Warren will do Global Underground 035 - Lima before they put out Global UndertheBus 036 - Eric Prydz
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
at least its new talent..lol
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
call on meeeeeeeeeeeeee
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
a bit patchy hehehe
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
to be fair i dont mind prydz, and some of his recent sets have been ok
::prepares to be burnt alive::
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
i think it would be awesome
in b4 "you would"
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
Maybe a Eric Prydz/ David Guetta collaboration. GU is officially irrlevant now.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
At this point, I feel it is necessary to start demaing Oakenfold and Deep Dish GU's.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
David Guetta :Barf:
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
anyone think the reason they can't get anybody new or anybody that people here might appreciate besides nick warren is because all those good underground djs don't want to waste their time with GU anymore? who knows, maybe eric prydz will surprise you.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
^ first, GU has never used underground DJs.
second, GU originally brought tunes you've never heard to the foray...at a time when internet radio and downloading and trading mixes, and recording live mixes from Dj's (and subsequently uploading them) was fairly rare.
Today, there are hundreds of thousands of mixes online, free for download...and that doesn't include the cd's and mix compliations you can buy. And, you're definitely going to find that some of these mixes have better mixing and track selection. And sometimes you'll even find them on the radio (chloe's first KissFm mix for digweed comes instantly to mind).
So what's the point of buying what amount to compliations when what your looking for is a mix cd? and better, a mix cd that has new and interesting choons.
Deep Dish: Toronto I think was the turning point...as they put a number of old tracks on there (and yet, thier individual supplement disks were absolutely amazing for the same reason the early GU's were good) --> And this is probably why Balance is doing so well, is because they've taken the original Global Underground Methodology of producing mix cd's and taken it a step further.
The exception of course is Nick Warren. And I really hope he stops working for GU and starts his own goddamn CD Series: may as well reap the full benefit....(has he done a Balance yet??)
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
He's suprised me every time I've seen him DJ by being consistantly good. I was nearly compelled to write a letter of apology after I saw him for the first time a few years back. Completely wrote him off before he played and he stepped up to the mark and smashed it...was proably the best on show that day...and Digweed player after him [takes cover] :)
All this of course doesn't mean it'll be any good if based on recent GU efforts

CD 2 of the SOS balance is fucking sick! :p

If Nick Warren had his own series there wouldn't be anyone doing their main brand. What they should of done is not bothered with all these separate series. Leaving the Nubreed out of it (This was a great series), The 24/7 & Lights Out series would of been just as successful if they had been branded as the main series. What i find funny John Digweed 6 Cd's for Renaissance and 4 of them in the last 3 years. But nobody's moaning about yet another Transitions. If you look in the last 20 years John Digweed has probably done twice the amount of mix Cd's that Nick Warren has done. And yes hes released them on Bedrock, GU, Renaissance, Fabric and countless others. But would it of made any difference on what label they where released on. Most of these labels are basically just releasing a snapshot of what the DJ is playing at the time. The only real difference is the packaging.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
About time Prydz got his own mix CD. He's produced lots of bombs for the dance floors over the years and plays to big crowds. Many respected DJs play his tracks and will be interesting to see what he brings on his own mix CD.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
^ | just cause he is a good producer doesn't mean he is a good dj. guy has absolutely no clue about programming a set.

Neither has Paul Van Dyk and some people think hes the best DJ in the world.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
there are loads of great producers that dont make good dj's and i agree, pvd is a page turn mixer at best, but in his earlier days (90's) i enjoyed a lot of the music he was playing.. wouldnt rate him anymore though, but thats just because my tastes have changed over the years
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
First off let me say that I am very much anticipating the new Nick Warren GU. Nick is the only thing on GU that has peaked my interest. GU Taipei was surprisingly very good, but Felix the Housecat doing a main GU series mix was questionable and not interesting to me at all.
Prydz has been a hit or miss producer, kinda like the Creamer& K of his time(not quite as good though). He has some pretty solid tracks, but alot of them kinda suck and sound the same. I would hope he is not doing a GU. BTW, Creamer and K had some great timeless tracks and remixes, but their Bedrock mix cd sucked and was not worth shit. Some people should stick to producing. Of course seeing/hearing Creamer live was pretty good in early 2002.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
maybe there will be some schexxie swedish gurls on the cover though :)
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
i would personally like to see Warren get back to working with Renaissance. Like Hernan and Seaman have done.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
^ i was just thinking that....and then i realized that warren probably put out one of the worst disks on renaissance (revelations....with danny howells producing what could be the best cd on that label!)
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
^^^^I like the Nick Warren Revelations mix. It doesn't hold up to well after Rapture, but the first half is awesome and peaks with the great remix of Stealth by Quivver. Not Nicks best, but a good mix.

His essential mix was one of the better radio mixes of last year. He seemed to put a lot of thought into it and it sounds better than most of the live efforts of his I've heard.
So based on that I reckon he'll do an interesting job on a GU comp.

Agreement!:D
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
Prydz's essential mix from last year is still one of the best around along with the SOS essential mix, hes producing the bulk of tunes which the likes of axwell, guetta, tong, laidback luke, dirty south etc are all using. He is only ever remembered for CALL ON ME!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
they really really need warren, sasha and digweed to save their asses.
go get sander, go get desyn, go get omid, romero, etc...
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
with the direction they're taking (GU), maybe Tommy Lee will be next followed by Boy George
LOL
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
eric prydz can release "agag" ( the one on his essential mix ) or he can GTF :@
you have no idea how long i,ve been waiting for that track
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
after listening to prydz slammin set which wasnt overly impressive i hope this is an improvement
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
I'm looking forward to it, Prydz has produced some fantastic tracks and can put a decent set together as mentioned already about last year's EM.
Bring it on I say.
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
Fuck it.
.
after listening to prydz slammin set which wasnt overly impressive i hope this is an improvement
it was a 'slamming set' taht wasn't 'overly impressive'.
pardon, monsieur. but what does this mean?
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
^ lol i meant his latest set on slam fm (or slammin fm) whatever its called was wank and to repetitive for my liking
better?
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
just like the rest of his music?
Re: Eric Prydz - Stockholm GU
mmmmmmmk :D
