Re: My new hero

I can't believe he took them to police stations. My guess is he'll be having more than probation in the future.

"Tests revealed cookies delivered to North Texas police departments may have never contained illegal ingredients.

Christian Phillips, 18, was arrested after field tests suggested cookies delivered to two police departments contained LSD and marijuana. However, a medical examiner's test of the cookies showed no signs of drugs.

Phillips was arrested Tuesday at the Lake Worth Police Department after officers were warned by the Blue Mound Police Department. Blue Mound officers said they thought they smelled marijuana in a batch of cookies delivered in a basket by Phillips, who was doing community service for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.

Authorities said initial tests on batches delivered to both departments proved the cookies were laced with drugs.

More sensitive tests are underway.

While Phillips remained in jail Wednesday night, if the new tests are negative the charges will be dropped."

In a few words, "No drugs were found"

Makes you wonder what to think the next time this guy writes in a police report that his probable cause to conduct a search was the scent of marijuana coming from a car or apartment, doesn’t it?

Also, why is it that these field tests police use turn up so many false positives? If you’ll remember back a bit, Dallas police had similar problems when the informant they were using was planting ground up pool chalk on targets. Cops doing field tests in those cases claim the tests showed the chalk (also known as sheet rock) to be cocaine. Several times.
