Re: Burning Man
I've never been, but friends of mine who have gone have had great experiences. Tbh, I don't know if I could handle it. Maybe if I had a trailer to stay in.:D All of the pictures I've seen make this festival look incredible!
Re: Burning Man
Yeah, I am going in an RV. No camping in the dust for me!
Re: Burning Man
Ah...going in luxury. Very Smart!
Re: Burning Man
i have heard some amazing things about this event. i wanted to go next year but most likely won't be able to. I have heard from a couple experienced "burners" that now is the time to go because they feel it's inevitable that it will get commercialized.
Re: Burning Man
i remember some pretty sick pictures surfacing on here from last years...link?

Here is like 2 hrs of content from Burning Man. We broadcast the shit live on current. I have a lot of friends that are burners and a lot of friends that go to shoot/produce shit (see above)- never been though.
I may be going this year... still not sure.
Re: Burning Man
I'll probably lose my mind if I go.

I did that a long time ago
Re: Burning Man
I went last year, and it's an insanely good time. Don't expect to sleep much while you're there, and don't forget to stay hydrated. I think the recommended amount of water while you're there is at least 2 gallons a day. Remember to keep yourself well lit at night, so you don't get run over by bikes or art cars.
Are you going out for the full week, or just a few days?
There are tons of sound camps, so be ready to dance your ass off. You'll also be walking more than you can imagine, so make sure to wear comfortable shoes (flip flops not recommended because you'll get playa foot) and bring lotion to keep your feet from cracking. Also, I wouldn't recommend going without a bike.. the city has a 10 mile radius, and without a bike, there is no way that you'll see it all.
Good luck, have fun, and just let go and have an amazing experience!
Re: Burning Man
Yup bike Yes! And I just spent 200 bucks on light up shit. lol!
Going for the entire week, and yeah I know sleep wont happen much. Hope my crankiness is kept to a minimum.
Re: Burning Man
I know Joachim Garraud played there last year and apparently is playing again this year. So at least there will be one good dj there. I don't know much about the event. My friend Mr. ECC plays there every year. I've wanted to go but never seem to know about the event until it's over. ARGH!
Re: Burning Man
Others that played there last year were Paul Oakenfold, Dj Dan, Gabriel and Dresden, etc. Not to say that I'm much of a fan of any of the above, but there are some big names out there. The good thing is that they're all included in the price of the ticket of the event. To keep with the spirit of community at the event, all dj's ask for is the cost of admission to play. In fact, many play events in San Fran throughout the year to cover expenses..
Opulent Temple throws some of the hugest events on the playa.. http://www.opulenttemple.org/. They're at BM every year, and have insane line ups. I think they release the line ups for the even a few weeks before hand.
p.s. for future planning, Burning Man is over Labor day. It typically starts the last week of August and runs through the beginning of September. I'm not going to make it this year, but next year for sure.
Re: Burning Man
I wish I was there for the crude awakening burning, that looks f*ckin amazing and makes me really miss the west coast for some reason:roll:...

Re: Burning Man
^ i dig the icon man8) got that whole enlightened mellow thing going on.
Re: Burning Man
it's a commitment to go but completely worth it. don't half-ass on any front. as far as tunes i've seen Bassnectar, Adam Freeland & Lee Burridge out there. but don't count on that it's not a headliner event. remember to get some sleep so you don't crash night of the burn. it's crazier and bigger every day into the weekend.
Re: Burning Man
Wow burning man sounds amazing ,, I am also trying to make it this year ,, I hope it all works out

Sweet pics Mike. Perhaps next year more of us will be able to go with ya.
Re: Burning Man
Having Lee Burridge as your personal DJ for a week has got to be the sweetest deal ever.
Re: Burning Man
That is the real treat when the top level DJ's come in to play throughout the week, that is one thing not really advertised maybe a 2009 ms Burning Man trip is in order, something to ponder.
Re: Burning Man
Great pics Mike! My friend Ilyia, went as well....he said it was awesome. I have always wanted to go....maybe one day
