went early around 1030PM since pacha had the get in for free before midnight deal for guys 21+.

opening dj built up to hernan very well. hernan didnt come on until like 1:40AM. sucks that i only got to hear like 1.5 hours of him , but i could immediately tell it was hernan just by how the music sounded. hernans style seems veryyyy chilled out and more progressive than S&D. superb technical ability. definitely has his own style. overall very impressed.

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

what does more progressive than S&D mean???

#1043796Post 3 of 29

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

Less minimal/clicky ... heavier beats that (crucially) include some house ?

perhaps he's suggesting that sasha and digweed don't play progressive anymore? The did once....but perhaps not today. or at least not as consistent as Hernan did the other night?

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

Im guessing that once Pacha started rolling in their "usual" peak time crowd, that this kid just couldnt handle the wide variety of clowns running around the big room. Pacha, NYC is a VERY different crowd..... LOL. But dude, to get there before 11, and to leave at like 3:00AM just shows inexperience. Pacha Peak Time is 3:00AM-6:00AM. I guarantee you missed the best part of the show.

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

Hernan is getting boring.. techno/minimal is where its at!

#1044220Post 16 of 29

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

O K. If you say so dude. To me minimal these days in incredibly boring. I need songs with melody to them.

So just to let me know, is it natural for the headliner dj's to start at 1:30AM? It would take me some getting used to for NYC. I'm used to 12AM for the headliner.

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

Jeffrey, and at what time they close the club?

#1044235Post 18 of 29

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

Yeah, the headliners in NYC usually come on @ 1-2AM. The place opens at like 10 with just local residents (sleepy and boo or someone else) until like 11:30-12, then the opening DJ comes on until like 1-2AM, which is when the headliner starts. The club closes when people clear out. Christ, the bar is open till 4:00AM in NYC. Its just a whole different animal down there..... But I love it!!

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

^^^That's the sort of schedule we have here. But our bars close when the club does. :)

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

I'm not saying straight out minimal, but the thing S&D have nowadays is just freaking amazing IMO, I can't imagine myself going back to old patterns : flat baselines, dark pads, operalike female vocals I mean who knows right? maybe is just me. but last time I checked on Hernan it was the same shit since 2004, 2006 and frankly 2008, I really love him as a Dj one of my faves but lately his stuff have become way to repetitive imho. he is amazing live tho'

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

to me he makes GREAT CD's but when playing live can get a bit boring

just my 2 cents

I've actually been playing a lot of older stuff [no new stuff:(] and he has definitely moved along over those years.

#1044585Post 29 of 29

Re: hernan cattaneo pacha nyc review

played more than 3 hours but was not a brillant set. what he played was mostly old trackz. and finally it was a boring night as always in pacha.
