^^Bastard!!
Re: Gas Prices
my tram/bus pass costs me 20euros a month
Re: Gas Prices
Isn't it all relevant though?? I mean, the cost of living is different here than it is there...So, paying $4.00 for gas here and you paying what ever you are paying there could be about equal in terms of cost of living, no??
unfortunately not!!
we arent paid exceptionally well in comparison to the rest of europe or the states. And i have to admit the rising fuel prices is causing me havoc with my cash flow. especially since i use the car quite a lot.
as phazon said in the UK it costs the equivalent of $150 to fill up. we aren't paid 3 times as much in the UK, let alone here in Italy.

Actually, state to state driving is quite common. Especially in the northeast where states are smaller and closer together.
Re: Gas Prices
^ | driving from conneticut to new york is not like driving from utah to california. and you guys still have the lowest gas prices of any developed country, so quit yer bitchin ;)
Re: Gas Prices
$4.05 for regular here in Hoboken.
I think this just highlights how America has been a slave to oil because of the evolution of the car culture and the resulting suburban sprawl. If there wasn't so much 20th century growth because of cheap gas then we wouldn't be living so far apart, there wouldn't be so many people, and we wouldn't be having as big of a problem.
Let the price go up to $10, $15, $20/gal. Make it impossible to drive until a new way is figured out. Use bikes. Make public transportation a necessity. The only way people really get things done is by force. It's not going to come from conscientious conservation.

fuck it, I'm just going to be a bartender at a beach bar and get a little Vespa to cruise around on..
blame al gore.
i dont see any relevance to this comment...
its the capitalist republicans (bush and co.) that are in bed with the oil companys.
if you want to blame a politician, look at the right side.
back to the topic at hand, its 4.29 over here in portland, or... 4.09 at costco.
Re: Gas Prices
hadn't paid over $3.97 yet... but still it cost $69.00 to put just over 17 gallons in my truck last night
Back when I was knee-high to a duck, gas was 82 cents a gallon!
Re: Gas Prices
Yeah I remember taking a dollar bill up to the neighborhood station to fill up a gallon can for our lawnmower when I was a kid.... god I feel old!
Re: Gas Prices
^^^Me too!!! I used to use change to fill up a 2.5 gallon tank for the lawnmower....Fuck....I was in 3 rd grade...So I was about 7 or 8...1987...I used to tell my parents that I was gonna turn them in for child labor. Mother fucker made me cut the lawn and shit at that age....And mad me use my allowance money to fill the tank...I was learning though.....
Re: Gas Prices
Its just silly - in the uk you'r stealth taxed to the hilt ; it costs you a bomb just to make it into work, to then earn money to pay your taxes, which in turn line the governmnts pockets for them to waste.
Its more cost effective being unemployed and bumming around.
Re: Gas Prices
^ lmao there is a certain truth to that and i find it sadly hilarious.

Re: Gas Prices

if people think that shale oil and offshore drilling are short term answers to high oil prices, they're delusional. the complexities of shale oil and the extremely long lead time for offshore projects means there IS no easy solution. the US has already passed peak production. they can drill all they want offshore, its not even gonna make a dent in daily US consumption.
