The sun was shining - there I was lazing around, decided to dust off this classic.

Absolutely mercurial - ambient intro tracks building to the lush Resistance D - feel high (Humate mix), via My Lexicon and Space Manoeuvres - stage one (Pariah remix) to peak time with Sacred, before a darker heads down driving finish with Amber's Natious that ends with that tranced out sublime '99 vibe.

... and that's just CD1 !

If Carlsberg did time travel I'd be on the old Space Terrace (r.i.p.) right now watching Sasha at his most sublime ... why oh why isn't music this freakin good these days ?

Rant over ... i'll crawl back under my stuck in the time-warp rock now.

We dusted that off the other day. I got emotional just remembering the old terrace at Space. The wife and I were reminded of just how good this cd is.

Re: GU 013 ibiza

GU13 is epic to say the least. Too many good tracks. Baseline was a killer. Also Fibonacci Sequence!

ahhhhhhh hooj choons!!!

how i miss thee!!!

#1018880Post 23 of 72

Re: GU 013 ibiza

I was never that keen on Fibonacci Sequence or Xpander. But it is a brilliant mix. I was suppose to go to Space for the GU party, but never got there because some bastard gave me salmonella. The closest i got was seeing Sasha play the warm up the night before at Mambo. I also took some speed before i knew i had food poisoning, it wasn't nice.

Sasha also recorded both sets at Space and then managed to lose the recordings. I would of loved to of found them. he wouldn't of got them back.

#1018909Post 24 of 72

Re: GU 013 ibiza

Don't want to stray too far off topic, but does anybody else have serious love for Sasha's GU San Francisco? Disc 1 never did a whole lot for me, but Disc 2 really changed my entire perception of music at the tender age of 16. I suppose it was more a door opener than anything else, which is why I still keep it close.

Re: GU 013 ibiza

Well that's a whole different story. The first few tracks on disc two are like auditory murder.

#1018962Post 30 of 72

Re: GU 013 ibiza

GU009 is easily my favorite sasha mix ever. that one gets played a couple times a year whereas GU013 has been in the closet for some time. it's good to go back to the roots every so often though. :p

#1018965Post 31 of 72

Re: GU 013 ibiza

I always thought My Lexion -> Nothing Left was a weird selection. But everything else rocks.

But HK rocks as much, in a different way. Just as LA is one twisted mix in a different way. And Sydney was just smooth as.

Still more partial to Digweed on GU.

Re: GU 013 ibiza

What's there to live for? Who needs the peace corps? Think I'll just DROP OUT I'll go to Frisco Buy a wig & sleep On Owsley's floor

Walked past the wig store Danced at the Fillmore I'm completely stoned I'm hippy & I'm trippy I'm a gypsy on my own I'll stay a week & get the crabs & Take a bus back home I'm really just a phony But forgive me 'Cause I'm stoned

Every town must have a place Where phony hippies meet Psychedelic dungeons Popping up on every street GO TO SAN FRANCISCO . . .

How I love ya, How I love ya How I love ya, How I love ya Frisco! How I love ya, How I love ya How I love ya, How I love ya Oh, my hair is getting good in the back!

Every town must have a place Where phony hippies meet Psychedelic dungeons Popping up on every street GO TO SAN FRANCISCO . . .

Hotcha!

First I'll buy some beads And then perhaps a leather band To go around my head Some feathers and bells And a book of Indian lore I will ask the Chamber Of Commerce How to get to Haight Street And smoke an awful lot of dope I will wander around barefoot I will have a psychedelic gleam in my eye at all times I will love everyone I will love the police as they kick the shit out of me on the street I will sleep . . . I will, I will go to a house That's, that's what I will do I will go to a house Where there's a rock & roll band 'Cause the groups all live together And I will join a rock & roll band I will be their road manager And I will stay there with them And I will get the crabs But I won't care Because . .

Re: GU 013 ibiza

It boils my blood when you think the likes of Delix da Silly Twat is now on GU's roster.

The brand's crying out for e.g. Martin Garcia - Buenos Aires, Rowan Blades - Warung, Luke Fair - Budapest, Neil Quigley - London, or even Luciano - San Jose .. but of course they won't shift units.
