"trippy and druggie" dj's wanted!

Looking for recommnedations for world-class dj's.

I do a very underground outdoor event in Japan that's based around psychedelic dance music. Our music used to feature lots of psytrance, but now it's more progressive house than anything else. Kasey Taylor played the final 4 hours of this year's party and blew everybody away.

I'm always on the lookout for new dj's. The stuff that works has to be deep and trippy and druggy, no commercial vibe/vocals. More "mountain music" than "club music". It can be fast or slow as long as it's serious and plays with your mind!

Do anyone have any recommendations from the trance/progressive/tech-house/techno scenes?

I think Darude would fit the bill. He makes me want to overdose whenever I hear one of his sick and twisted tunes.

Would love to book Digweed, but that would require some serious serious cash...

Chris Fortier was one person who struck me with his outstanding chili set in australia. He seems like a very talented dj who could play a banging set in a more commercial one night and then feel equally at home the following night playing a dirty+trippy set in an underground setting. Any of you seen Chris play?

no I havent, where is he from? where does he normally play?

#279518Post 15 of 53

Justin Drake is one half of Peace Division, so I assume he plays dark tribal and tech house, but I'm not sure what he plays these days.

MJ: What's the name of the dj whose set you posted? Just started to listen to it now.

Have you considered Moshic?

checkout www.moshic.com for contact info

you can also listen to some of his sets to find out if you're picking up what he's putting down.

#279572Post 21 of 53

being clever: i like moshic's sound quite a bit. in a similiar vein i was thinking of gab oilver (zero tolerance). i love that dark sound for the night.

#279591Post 22 of 53

because it works a lot better than that top 40/trance sound!

Re: "trippy and druggie" dj's wanted!

woah...you tell Sean Cusick to get trippy on you, and you might regret it... :Naughty: in more ways then one

#279973Post 30 of 53

I've just read a lot of Sean Cusick's columns and interviews, and he's obviously a dangerous beast who should locked away, for the safety of wholesome individuals everywhere. I'm interested. He actually uses the word psychedelic to describe his music. Most house producers are afraid of even hinting at acid in any context. Whereas in my experience the only people who listen to music are the acid-eaters, even if they gave up long ago.

Does anyone have any links to sets of his? Can the dude mix as well as he can write? Can he play mindfuck music as twised as his column? And more importantly, after his set is he going to go on a 2-day drug binge and terrify all my staff?

#279976Post 31 of 53

with a bit of luck he will!

#279984Post 32 of 53

^^^especially if you provide the drugs :Naughty:

Re: "trippy and druggie" dj's wanted!

Sean is a great DJ and producer, though I would keep him away from the Jim Beam if I were you. Last time he played here he was drinking the stuff like water, throwing records, gave his watch away, tried to lift my friends girlfriend's shirt up then asked my friend if he had any opiates...was a classic night...lol

Re: "trippy and druggie" dj's wanted!

i just hosted sean the other night and he was great. it sounds like you already have a built in crowd for your event in which case i dont think you need to use such a big name. i've heard plenty of others just as good that wont charge you an arm and a leg. if you can get him to play for free that is best, thats what i do, but then again these guys have been asking me to play my party.
