best DJ out there imo. never lets up, never slows down. versatile, and always, always, on form. I've never, ever been disappointed with his sets. he doesn't even need to bother with a vortex.

Party DJ who knows how to work the floor when he is not on the mic. But don't rate him and his cheesy Chanel logo.

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

The guys a legend, and his ibiza nights at Space are the best run events on the island. Diggers is always happy to turn up to support Carl, making the event a bargain each year (I've had free entrance in the past !).

Coxy's early evening Terrace sets are fantastic, and Carl returns to play from 3.00 til 8.00 a.m. He's still a top DJ, and his set from Womb sets a quality that others struggle to match.

He deserves his place alongside likes of S & D, albeit that he has a different style.

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

caught him once at simons years ago. awesome party he was owning three 3 dex like nothin.

caught him a year or two later at some cheesefest in melbourne, florida where the setup was only 2 dex. he looked seriously bored and needless to say that set wasn't impressive.

i'd defo go see him again though, he's been dj'ing longer than some of us have been alive.

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

Any recent Pablo Hassan sets to check out? Had a look in P&R but the Womb set is dead. Apprently there's a 'Carl Cox presents - Global Episode 255 Recored Live @ Womb, Tokyo' that's good as well.

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

saw the man last friday here, at Kristal Club. it was the first time for me. he kept me dancing all night. it felt good to take a pause from all the minimal techno/tech house that dominates the scene here.

the first track from the video below, destroyed the club.

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

Gotta give him credit for having a good time in the booth, always nice to see a DJ grooving and bopping and having fun. As long as the music is good. I still think of him as a party DJ, toeing the line between good and cheese. Club looks wicked btw.

 1. Track ID for that first tune?

 2. At about 2:45-2:55 he borderline breaks out the "carlton"

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

I was reffering to the clubbing scene wich, since 3-4 years ago, started massively to developp, having the occasion to see sasha every 1st may on the board of the black sea or lee burridge 3-4 times/year.

there are people who practically are bored to see the same Djs playing.

take a look at the page below to have an idea of what will happen on the local scene in the next 1-2 weeks (easter holiday + 1 may holiday).

ps : that video is actually from timewarp, not from kristal club.

Kristal is one club i really want to visit. Its a shame they don't seem to record any sets from there anymore. 3 or 4 years ago there used to be loads of live sets coming from there.

yeah, the only sets i've heard lately from that club were sven's and luciano's (wich I strongly reccomend to listen) last year gigs.

i would not want to be caught between him and the mixer. breaks out some classics on there too.

one of you mentioned that he's slowed down a bit, and in some sense i kinda agree. but so has sasha, digweed, and others. For example, Compare Sasha's Alexander Palace set, with his Glastonbury 2003 set, and his recent Amnesia 2007 essential mix. By next year, i imagine he'll be rockin out at a stead 125bpms ffs.

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

have to give it to coxy, he works the crowd. read an interview of his a while back and he stated that he never comes prepared for a show, always feels what the crowd wants and delivers. havent listened to any of his newer stuff but FACT and the live at crobar set from a few years back are intense. he is a bit repetitious tho.

WTF ... whos is the bird that comes on part way through MC'ing ??

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

Feckin brilliant to see someone clearly enjoying themselves so much. Even if his tunes aren't top of my list, you've got to love him for giving it the sausage finger and bouncing around like an excitable Tellytubby. Nuff respect.

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

Cox is great live - although it really depends on the crowd he is playing too as to what you will here. I saw a 3 hour mixing masterclass from him in my students union, he played loads of cheesy house followed by some great techno, was a fun evening and he was loving it.. played exactly what the 1200 students wanted to hear, rocked it.

On the other hand, saw him at Gods Kitchen in Birmingham a few years back, James Zabiela in room 2, awesome night out, he played 4 hours of techno absolutely smashed it.

I probably wouldnt enjoy seeing another festival set of his, but he is a great dj and really does play to the audience...
WTF ... whos is the bird that comes on part way through MC'ing ??
Its probably one of his "live" tracks - he showcased some of them at SW4 a couple of years ago, probably around the same time that movie was recorded.

I was too busy in the bedrock tent to give a damn :D

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

That video is bad ass.

I've always liked carl cox

He's got mad technical skills. Always working his equipment non-stop...he does a lot more than just lay down a set of tracks!

#1010765Post 33 of 46

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

this may be a bit forward considering some of the disdain a few people have for music like his....but, he's got so many sets that, plus a radio show....i think it would be perfect to have an archive for him on here. He plays more gigs than anyone on the planet. I know it took a while for sasha to get his due, but i think people will agree he's just as legendary, just as important, and just as powerful behind the decks as those two.

of course, it may take some time for this idea to see some promise here.....

#1010796Post 34 of 46

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

seconded i reckon we should have a coxy archive

he deserves nearly as much respect as sasha and digweed

so how about it mod/admin type people??

#1010858Post 35 of 46

Re: Are you ready to rock with me, Carl Cox!?

I'd love to get all his Global's from ibiza.

i agree.. and its not like over the top, he is just having fun, not making an arse out of himself singing along like our boy morillo
