Right then!! since Johns asked!

been listening to this and my thoughts so far:-

listened to disc 1 twice. found it pleasant enough but a bit difficult to get into. the track slelection is a bit bitty. not what i expected at all from these guys. :what

disc 2 is more of what i expected from these guys and is very good. nice and medolic with a good driving rhythm. :D

haven't got round to listening to disc 3 yet. hoping it will be a continuation of disc 2, but less medolic and more driven peak time madness. i will let u know!

:what dunno, the first time it just slipped me by. nice, but nothing stand out!!! have to say up until now i prefer the second disc.

put it all in the ipod, its going in the car. so we shall see what its really like!!

more to come!

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

yeah ive had the promo "sampler" that desyn gave me, but couldnt really get into it since everything was mashed up...kinda like the transitions sampler. looking forward for the full release.

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

^^^doesnt suprise me. i know these are desyns boys but he is better playing solo (where hs is at his best) or taggin with top of the line djs. (IE) i saw him and luke fair tag team at wmc one year and i thoguth they really feel off each other pretty well. demi/omid just dont cut it imo

Desyn & Omid 16b are both better on their own, 16b is a real talent

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

^^^agreed. unless your name is sahsa or digweed it doesnt make sense to form a dj group.

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

i am really not a fan of demi and i have to agree that those two buys are @ best when they play alone. and......omids new album suckd, its irrelevant but i have to put it out there...

I've always been amazed at how many Dj's put out an album that just doesn't do it, then you see them live and they rock the house, unfortunetely Omid is like many other of our fav Dj's that were at there very best between 2002 - 2004.

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

i think that they are all great djs, and i really like how they play together.

i'm too keen on the whole super-dj-group concept. its all a bit backstreet boys for my liking.

the second disc in the car was a dream. had me driving with a big grin!!

it sounds pretty average to me

that was at Yuca in 2005, weird continental types played too, JD was just wandering around all night. But yeah luke and desyn destroyed that place

This year at the canada loves miami pool party at the shelborne desyn and omid tagged for two hours, and i was well impressed

That and the whole amount of melodies packed into will prevent me from buying this.

Not really my cup of tea...

Cheers, G.

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

^^^ I saw Desyn, Omid and Demi on Saturday night and they were just amazing.!! :D I enjoyed it so much I felt I was being unfaithful to Hernan. Omid is fabulous!! I refused to leave the dance floor for anything , I didn't want to miss a moment. !! 4 1/2 hours of some of the best dance music I have ever heard. !!:D Omid on his own a couple of years ago was in my top shows but this just totally blew me away.! Omid and Demi were the livewires.

Seriously the only comparable show ever was Hernan at brown Alley last year.

I've ordered this compilation . A lot of people love it. :).

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

i rate omid aswell.

but loads of people disagree with me. cant understand why?

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

What's up with you dudes (dudettes?) drinking the tall glass of Haterade?

I appreciate that we're all borderline music snobs (complete with denial issues of same), but I am totally amazed by the lackluster reviews of this comp... I love it! Also very shocked at the Demi bashing... the guy's got some of the best booth presence I've ever seen, he's delivered a few blinding Kiss mixes, and his monster performance at Sonic here in Toronto rates among one of the best nights I've ever had.

I agree that the SOS sound is a bit high octane at times (even when paired with amazing substances), but I'll definitely be blaring all 3 discs through my headphones this weekend when we head to the mountains for some spring skiing.

At a minimum, I can't help but appreciate the fact that EQ's given three DJs with brilliant track selection/technical mixing/overall chemistry some room to run... you can easily notice each on of their individual touches and the result is a comp with everything from spacey studio bits to hard charging material which replicates the experience of seeing them live.

Call me bananas, but I rate this. Now when's a Dana Bergquist comp disc coming out???!?

I've always found Desyn totally boring, pretty music sometimes, but I like a bit of life in my music. :) Omid in particular is so much better than Desyn. Oh well different taste I suppose. Put it this way I wouldn't bother with a stand alone Desyn, I'd crawl over broken glass to see Omid, so much better value in every way!! :D

#1005537Post 26 of 39

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

desyn used to be fantastic, but his sets have become monotonous. demi is way, way better at setting a groove. as is Omid. I'd be interested in hearing this. I can't imagine it would be as average as Desyn's first balance...

#1005581Post 27 of 39

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

the demi set from the standard has that groove.

the balance cd is missing that. a bit too melodic.

but disc 2 rocks with the best of them!

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

The mix is like a musical journey with too many detours. Didn't feel tight, kinda light and fluffy. This feels like prog-handbag house for happy shiny people. Not my kinda sound. :NotMe:

#1008119Post 29 of 39

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

now where is my handbag?

ah. there it is in the middle of the dance floor!

we are all musical snobs, its almost expected when being an EDM fan.. but leave your haterade blasts at the door mate, everyone can have an opinion, and though ive not listened to it, i find it difficult to believe something that works well in a live setting such as the desyn, omid and demi "tag team", can work even remotely well on a studio cd...

Dana deffo has some good remix work out, though i think it may be a while before he is at the stature of putting out a balance comp or something of the like

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

I was a big fan of Demi back when he did Deeper Substance. I am a fan of their work individually, and have enjoyed some good SOS sets at Bedrocks but im a bit hesitant to buy this CD.

partly because im skint... and partly because i dont want to be disappointed...

Re: Balance 013 - SOS

I havent heard anything on disc 1

That was my fav out of them all!

I'm a huge fan of downtempo, chillin music and I thought they did a great job of directing the flow.

the others are decent but I'm loving the 1st.
