His essential mix wasn't hard house and that was last year.

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

john mixes really are sometimes my highlight, because of the releases..once he gets into a sound I love, just hearing how he mixes slow vortexy

like march 23rd

#995376Post 7 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

Didn't Digweed drop a Fergie track couple of weeks back and that sparked off some discussion about Fergie moving towards a techier sound? Or was that some other hard dude?

#995377Post 8 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

Fergie hasnt mixed hard house in years. He moved on to techno about 5 years ago, then gradually moved to housier sounds.

I remember a show of his when he had Joanna from Massive Records Oxford as a guest, she bought some of her favourite tunes along and he kept speeding them up :D

Last year or so he has moved on to proper minimal/tech sounds, his sound has matured.

Big up to Tony De Vit for finding Fergie and giving him the chance to DJ....

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

Yeah its a bit like saying Craig Richards is still playing Cheesy anthems like he used to at Malibu Stacy.

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

Digweeds mix this week i am happy to say is fab :D

#995492Post 13 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

Yeah, it was excellent!

Wish he'd play a live mix again though, it's been three months since the last one.

Listening to Fergie's mix now and must admit i actually quite like it.

#995546Post 16 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

yeah he grew out of HH a couple years ago. but i still won't listen to him.

does the guy even produce anything?

#995547Post 17 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

Yes he does produce, digweed played one of his tracks a few weeks ago on the show

#995551Post 18 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

i guess that means we have to ignore digweed now?

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

fergies remix of king unique - hinode is awesome.

#995609Post 20 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

Fergie is producing some good tracks and is coming through in different genres. Top bloke too. He has quite a few tracks out and some forthcoming on Great Stuff.

Not to listen to someone because of what he played 3/5 years ago is pretty ignorant.

Everyone stop listening to Lawler, he played Paul van Dyk-for an angel before...

#995618Post 21 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

i Have stopped listening to Lawler :D

Pigeon hole'ing is ignorant.
i Have stopped listening to Lawler :D
but not cause of that eh?

we must pigeon hole them or else we won't know when to stop listening to them.

all of a sudden, digwed could start playing hard house with horn samples. without pigeon holing, we would very much find that an attractive 'evolution' of his sound.

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

i never listened to fergie, never really plan to either. I've got too many other dj's to listen to first...there's not enough time in each day.

i'm glad to see him maturing.

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

The only reason i stopped listening to lawler is cause there are not many lawler sets. And the ones i have listened to were avg..

#995758Post 30 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

its not bad!

just a bit flat as sets go!!

cant quite put my finger on it, maybe its the eq, its a bit bass heavy, or the style of mixing. dunno, its just doesnt feel right.

fair play to him, for starting to develop some taste. good luck to him, i wouldnt go and see him on principle.

the TL is posted, there are a few Fergie tracks on there, I assume it isnt the bird from black eyed peas.. if youve never listened to him and dont plan to, how can you have such an opinion on the lad? ie: knowing what he used to play and what he currently plays and that he is maturing.. and if you do know all this, you'd know he was producing yeah?

maybe you're just all this to get your post count back up? lol ;)

#995874Post 32 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

when i used to live in the uk i had the "pleasure" of hearing him on radio 1.

i have listened to the set. but i would go and see him. ie pay to hear him play

#995877Post 33 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

^^^ used to listen to him on Radio1 all the time too.. even though i wasnt into HH, his shows were normally entertaining

#995909Post 34 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

If he was on in my back garden I wouldn't open the curtains !

The question is, has he matured ... or jumped on a different bandwagon to keep his career alive ?

#995918Post 35 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

isnt that the natural development of a dj career?

tastes change, the scene changes. a dj needs to be flexible to keep working. whether its by leading or by following.

#995931Post 36 of 50

Re: OMG hardhouse Fergie is this weeks transitions guest

his show featured a lot of techno artists. that was 2 years ago...
