Great headphone-stuff, have heard all of them played on big PA's and only Park It In The Shade-works on the dancefloor.

Re: emFire is a sublable of Renaissance?!!
well it's not all that hard nowadays to begin a digital label. practically nothing to start, you just gotta get a distributor and some releases....it's almost pure profit. And when you are already a known label, it's that much easier to begin a side label...that and with them owning Emfire...sasha doesn't have to worry much about running it. Not unlike Madonna and that Maverick label she was given by warner.
Re: emFire is a sublable of Renaissance?!!
in traditional and most record industry sense, parent labels come up with start-up finance and handle the administration (promotion, marketing, distribution, etc.) and where emFire (aka Sasha) can focus on creative and composition and control the sound and direction of the label and not worry about the day to day business of running a record label. Its a common practice in both music and film with this type of structure. Even with the digital world, distribution, revenues, licensing, etc. have to be dealt with on a day to day basis. Renaissance already has somewhat of a structure and process and I'm sure Sasha has built a solid and trusting relationship for many years with Geoff Oakes and company.
Re: emFire is a sublable of Renaissance?!!
more respect for Digweed, as far as i know he doesn't have a parent label. or am i wrong? thnx for the info guys. educational
Re: emFire is a sublable of Renaissance?!!
I believe they're called 'vanity labels'. Happen across all genres.
Re: emFire is a sublable of Renaissance?!!
kudos to Diggers in keeping Bedrock independent but you have to also consider Bedrock isn't only a record label but a highly respected, heavy hitter in the event/club promotion industry as well. With that being said, it already has a decent infrastructure of running itself but with an uncompromising, articulate duo behind it..John Digweed and Nick Muir.
Re: emFire is a sublable of Renaissance?!!
i still think we should have a mercuryserver record label. digital only...
that idea got shot down the last time i brought it up though.
Re: emFire is a sublable of Renaissance?!!
that takes a lot of time to do and it would be up to Kamal and Tom to do it, and both of them have enough to do already.
why not just start up your own label? it's not that hard these days...what is hard is keeping people listening to the new releases and getting and taking care of artists and sales.
Re: emFire is a sublable of Renaissance?!!
why would it have to be kamal or tom doing it? there are other people around here who help out.
Re: emFire is a sublable of Renaissance?!!
so you think its so easy to start a record label? are you putting up the money?
its not as simple as it sounds. i know, i've been there done that a few times with and without larger label help. never really made any money, mostly lost $$$$ enough where wasn't worth the effort and time - money better spent somewhere else.
