Would like to see if anyone can make some recommendations on studio monitors. I just recently bought the korg zero4 and wanna start making some tracks in ableton with it. Im looking for active monitors somewhere around $600 for a pair. I'll also be using them for dj'ing too. thanks;)

Recommendations for Studio Monitors
Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors
you can't go wrong with a pair of KRK rokit 8's. but i do reccommend getting a sub with it.

i was looking at those the Events, and Dynaudio's.
Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors
those are more like $600 each. and right now you probably don't have much more for a studio, so you can use that money toward a nice soundcard...which is integral to a good studio.

I was looking at just using the firewire/asio soundcard thats in the mixer itself. i think im definitly gonna go with the KRK's. i did read some reviews about them. everyone raved about them but also did recommend getting the sub for them...my set up is gonna look like a bumble bee..black and yellow monitors and a black and white mixer..
Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors
yeah they look kinda strange, but i think they do it just to stand out from the crowd.
I wouldn't know how good the soundcard in the korg is, but you will find out soon enough.

Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors
what about the iKey M-808, they are a bit cheaper than the KRKs. Is the price/SQ difference worth it?
Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors
ikey? who the hell is that? isn't that the company that made that ipod recorder hardware.
remember, you get what you pay for, if you want quality you're gonna wanna pay for it.
Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors

krk v8's? or the rokits?
i have the v8's and love them to death
Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors
the v8's are the more expensive ones. You should know that Shawn. To me, the Rokits are just wonderful for what I want. I just gotta get my sub working.

Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors
hello guys! i have m audio BX8 and they're not expensive and sounds great. after 2 years with them no complain.
Cheers!
Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors
my good friend had the M-audio speakers for a long time, one day we went into his studio and the one monitor was putting out the serious hum, since then we have all been KRK guys. Though he still has his m-audio 8" sub, and the thing sounds great.
Re: Recommendations for Studio Monitors
KRK VXT6's is a very VERY nice option as well money wise.. I'd prefer them over the Rokit 8s
