I think i have decided it's time to part ways. No idea how to go about attacking it. Wondering if anyone on here has experience it selling them off?

How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
umm, dont? worst idea ever IMO
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
umm, dont? :!:
best idea yet!
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
From what I have seen you will get shit for them.
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
but that Rancilio Silva machine i want looks so inviting, surely it would get more use then the 2-years untouched vinyl I have.
But yeah, really on the fence about wether or not it's a good idea.
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
take up a side job putting ham and mayonnaise on bread. as soon as you sell your vinyl you will hate yourself. thats a fact!
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
Try selling the nagging girlfriend instead.
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
don't do it dude. it's not worth your time. you'll get 1, maybe two dollars per record. Looking back at the hundreds of records i sold, i realized later down the road that I wished i had most, if not all, of them back.
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
mail them to me...
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
the fact is you will regret it, and you will never get anywhere near the compensation you deserve for all the time and money you put into collecting the records.. unless you have multiple copies of some gems worth a lot of money, it isnt worth it.
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
yeah i think any way to make any amount of decent money is to sell each title which is worth anything individually. if this is ebay, etc this means a lot of time spent on your listings and whatnot, but if you sell in bulk you are going to just get screwed.
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
^^ yeah, unless you add on 5 or 6 dollars in shipping.. i used to buy records on ebay all the time, and some of the shipping fees were ridiculous, especially over seas, but i got some GREAT records, and dont regret it and will never sell
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
if you're an intelligent record collector and have a really nice rare collection you want to part with, put them up on ebay, one by one, and sell them off that way. i'm just guessing here, so correct me if i'm wrong, but your collection is all the popular stuff you used to be into that everyone else also bought at the same time, and now you just don't want it- aaaaaaaaaaaand nobody else does either. your time is worth more than you'll get for your "collection."
instead you're better just saveing them, and when your 60 you can break them out and crack open a beer and remember the good ol days and get all nostalgic and poop on yourself.
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
plus, in keeping them, you'll have extra ammo against a zombie attack at your residence.
no, put that original copy of blue monday down. that's a keeper!
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
yup...i got a few steals on ebay for some random good tunes i came across. you do have to watch out for the s+h though esp overseas. i always scoped for that before i bid. if the s+h is 14.99$ then that pretty much means i didnt want to spend more than a few bux on the record unless i really wanted the tune bad.
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
keep them too much time and money invested to cut a part of yourself away
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
two of my best purchaes on ebay are
- a "lot' of hooj choons records, some double and triple packs from early 90's, i think i got about 30 records for $45.00 inc s&h.. most had the price still on and they originally cost a lot more! 8 and 9 pounds each
the other was a "lot" of Hybrid single, double and triple packs i think i won the auction for like $15.00 or something ridiculous

I'm sure you hit the nail on the head with this one. I am assuming most people out there that were into the same style have the same records.
My problem is that I have to tables, nor means/energy to do what it takes to listen to this. Life has changes, a kid has come along... priorities have shifted.
I suppose it's best to wait for that day when i have the cash to throw at a setup that allows me to go back and listen to all these records as music (rather then as pieces used to compile sets... if that makes sense.)
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
over the years i've gotten some great tunez off of ebay. but i've got a crate and a half or so off tracks from years ago that i'm almost ashamed to say i listened to back then, mostly trance.

thats the beauty of it.. there was a time and place that you felt compelled to acquire these records, whether or not you are into them now. and music has a way of triggering certain emotions and periods in life. so for that reason alone it is worth hanging on to them :D
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
i've thought about this many a time.
Living in itlay the shipping costs of getting my gear and records over here was too much, plus the obvious need for lots of flight cases.
they are currently at my folks house back in england. ballache. dunno what to do with them. i miss them, but will probably never pick up my old hobby again. plus i cant afford to keep the habit i had. selling them would solve many problems, but i know i will regret it.
keep them! if your selling them for finicial reasons, u will never forgive yourself.
if its because of someother crazy hari brain idea. keep them the same.
u know every now and again u think of that great track u have or that amazing b-side. u will alway regret that u havent got them.
otherwise back them up to mp3 and flog em. not the same, and bloody time consuming but a compromise.
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
I never sold mine off but I had a postal girlfriend that keyed every thing that wasn't in my bag....so I would say yes you will miss them however they leave your possesion
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
postal girlfriend???
how did she key them if she lived in another place?? (i'm presuming thats what postal gf means)
Re: How does one go about selling of their vinyl collection?
postal = loco

Great point Steve. i have bout 4000 records alot of which i think to myself what was i thinking but u know what we all go through stages in everything we do in life so just throw some old trance tunes on and see how u feel.. mind u they may sound dated, in fact most will but who gives a shit...

I know I regret giving away my Planet Funk - Inside All the People record with the deep dish mix - how I miss that record. Now I'm subjected to listening to it on a digi format.
