Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

it's not free money. it's already been taken from the taxpayers. it's just being sent back in small quantities. it would be like saying you get free money from your bank account when you go to the teller to withdraw money.

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

oh jesus, i know that, lol. its like those ads you hear around tax time, that say how often do you get free money from the gov't.

so its unexpected money to do with what you want Mr ray of sunshine, lol

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

lol.. this stupid ass government is so freaking hilarious.

they rush this bill through to get the economy "stimulated" and now we have to wait 4-7 months in order to get the damn thing.

makes absolutely no sense.

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

these kinds of stimulus packages can have a beneficial impact in less extreme economic circumstances, but given the magnitude of this oncoming correction...I think this is less than a drop in the bucket and really won't do shit. It's all about politicians trying to cover their asses as best as they can.

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

Maybe people in the states can use to pay a portion of their mortgage, would have to agree with the oncoming market correction, the US has lived to long off incoming foriegn investment (China and the Middle East) now after pissing that away what's left.... official third world status.

#983631Post 19 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

^^^ its only 600 or 1200 dollars, not really going to dent their mortgage, plus its to stimulate the economy, lol.. not get you out of debt

this stupid ass government is also fucking retarded, they plan on spending 42 million dollars just to send out notification letters to all who will receive the rebate checks:shock:

#983788Post 21 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

lol... IRS is sending out NOTICES to let people know their rebate is on the way... as if noone knew...

from: http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/08/tax.letter.ap/index.html

"The notices are going out this month to an estimated 130 million households who filed returns for the 2006 tax year, at a cost $41.8 million, IRS spokesman John Lipold confirmed.

That works out to about 32 cents to print, process and mail each letter. It doesn't include the tab for another round of mailings planned for those who didn't file tax returns last year but may still qualify for a rebate.

Democrats accused the Bush administration of wasting time and postage.

"There are countless better uses for $42 million than a self-congratulatory mailer that gives the president a pat on the back for an idea that wasn't even his," Sen. Charles Schumer said Friday, arguing the IRS could more effectively spend the money to catch tax cheats."

just thought everyone needs yet another laugh this saturday =p

#983789Post 22 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

"catching tax cheats"? wtf? that's hardly the first thing that comes to mind when i think of using government money.

i don't know...maybe we could do something productive and positive?

or, perhaps, we should also give that money back IN the rebates.

#983811Post 23 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

free money in the mail? thats whats up!

#983825Post 24 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

^^yeah...except that it's money you gave to the government in the first place. And if you could have held on to that money, you could have invested it and over the long term earned probably somewhere around historical market returns of 12% (plus or minus a few). So basically it's like we gave the government an interest-free loan :p;)

#983826Post 25 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

free to be taxed next next year.

#983849Post 26 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

i remembered hearing that it was only supposed to be a max of 400. WOW that would be nice to recieve a check for 1200. I'd be getting me a sub and a nice presonus firepod. YEAH....that's if I get that kind of cabbage.

#983853Post 27 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

its 600 per person fomr what i gather.. 1200 if you are married, so then basically she gets 1200

#984090Post 28 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

no way...that's 42 million that could have gone to the Iraq war FFS....

#984091Post 29 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

^ lol

What I want to know is, Is this money "tax free". Are we going to have to report it as income on our 2008 returns? I'll keep the anal lube close by just in case.

#984278Post 31 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

This is the dumbest idea ever! The United States is already trillions of dollars in debt from prior poor spending management. This is nothing more than an election year bribe of the American people.

If they really wanted to do something, how about starting with tighter regulation of the lending industry.

Oh wait, I forgot ........... Congress is too busy trying to figure out who stuck Roger Clemens in the ass, what tool was used in said ass sticking and what concoction was in said tool during the afore mentioned ass sticking. Follow?

Fuck it. On second thought, I deserve the $$$$.

#984585Post 32 of 58

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

how could it possibly be a election year bribe, the guy running for the republican party barely has a shot at winning, and we know that Bush is finally going to be getting out of there. I can only hope and wish that the next president...whomever it is, does good things for this country instead of flushing it down the toilet like our present one.

Bring on my $$ so I can buy more studio equiptment. Or a ticket to the UK to visit friends.

Re: Tax Rebate economy Stimulus cheque

i got my paper in the mail a few days ago that talked about these checks. it said the payout will be UP TO $600 for a single person, now this also pays out in relation to what your income was for last year too.
