Haven't bought any of the GU's released after Taipei but will most likely buy this one.

All of Nick's GU's have been entertaining even if Shanghai turned out to be fucking boring after three listens.

Am I the only one pleased by this news? Nick is a top dj, and always delivers tunes. Shanghai is one of my personal favourites - I'll definitely buy this.

Layo & Bushwacks, Freeland, Felix da Housecat are all definitely NOT my cup of tea......

Im not going to complain about Nick Warren doing ANY cd, even if it is another GU. Nick is a fantastic and top notch DJ and producer. He always delivers and is one of my personal favorites. Im glad he is doing the next GU because i have not been too pleased with the recent lineup of GU mixes. Taipei was pretty damn sweet though, after that, SHITE! Nick Warren is more then welcome, so what if he has done a a bunch of mixes already for GU, How many mixes has Diggers done for Renaissance over the years?

i'm pretty sure he has full creative control over his cd. Anf frankly I can't wait for his cd...for unlike SO many other cd cops out there today, his always has lesser known producers with killer tracks out there. He has done this for his last three cd's on GU and I'm really glad he does that. As He's one of the only BIG DJ's who do that.

is that true jeffrey? if so that is super cool of him. with the music as saturated as it is these days it's great to hear that he goes out of his way to lay tracks down that are produced by the lesser know arists :D

personally i say bring on a new GU from Nick Warren. why the hell not? every CD has its moments imo, but i understand how some would be tired of his GUs for as many as he has done. i loved prague back in 97, budapest was also very classy imo

^^^ Reykyvik, Iceland one is one of my all time faves.. i remember the first time i heard it i was at my hotel during wmc relaxing in the pool talking to a couple form hollnad, he was a dj, she a promoter.. i wish i had got their names, but anyway, that cd was playing, and i was blown away by it

they are and have... Deep Dish, James Lavelle, Layo & Bushwacka, Adam Freeland... problem is that most of them suck =\

James Lavelle is a legend and he could of made his GU's much more eclectic than he did.. he took the route of a club-based compilation than anything else.... to its dismay :(

what we want is good underground, non-commercial DJ's... Fabric and Balance are doing that very nicely.

I agree about reykjavik.. one of the best GU's out there.

Zabs would be nice for a GU, but i think he's probably got a contract with MOS now that they helped do that CD for him and Fanc. But Who know.

Always been a supporter of Warren since hearing Nalin + Kane - Beachball on Prague, and he's a great dancefloor DJ rah rah rah, I'm sure these opinions are reiterated from previous Warren bashing threads.

STILL. Fucking hell, [I]another[/I] GU? Very ambivalent about this because ... as good as the tracks are, the way the compilations are put together and sound, are beginning to become predictable. Hope he doesn't turn it into BSPF, that'd be a pity.

you make a good point. i supposed we can anticipate a chilled-out disk 1 and a bangin' disk 2?

personally, i think the way tracks were produced back in the day on the earlier GU's are substantially different than the stuff that's put on the recent compilations. It's the difference between driving an IndyCar and driving a nissan. On the other hand, it is the DJ's who are choosing the tracks, so this must also be considered. (but again, what is the selection they're choosing from?) The Nick Warren on Prague versus the Nick Warren in Paris are on opposite sides of the universe.

I could be very well alone on this, but I don't think many of the recent GU's are even indicative of what "resembles the sounds being played in the clubs of this city".

Yeah wasn't making a direct comparison between Prague and his later GUs, but GU Reyjavik (can never spell that) and Shanghai felt like the same 'mold' to me.

Shanghai was wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy below Reykjavik in every regard. Haven't listened to it since I bought it. Boring stuff.

I like Nick's Sets. He knows how to put down some amazing progressive and has some of the best track selection. I may be a minority in this, but I am actually excited.
