the firewall wasn't screwing me too much. i had it disabled. haven't had problems with the service pack pretty much til the pop up blocker and that download block started frustrating me like no other.

dude, its the worst piece of shitt ever!!!

even after doing a clean install and loading SP2 first it won't work right with all the applications etc... Now I have to wipe my system the second time in 2 weeks, BLOWSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

SP2 is working perfectly for me and I didn't even have to do a clean install.

I like SP2!

I use Opera so IE doesn't bother me; the firewall is running in the background and doesn't disturb me either.

I installed the SP2 beta release candidate first...had no problems besides switiching the Security Center off which took me a few minutes to figure out how. As I am lazy I have the automatic updates for Windows enabled (which I will do NEVER again) and last week I came back to my PC and Windows installed SP2 full version again! on my PC. :x Since then I had a new connection windows in my task bar stating that it has reduced connectivity...no clue what this was about. Worst thing was that I got disconnected from website surfing after beeing 2 hours online....well I was still connected to the Internet and Soulseek or FTP worked still but no MSN and surfing possible, couldn't contact one site. :x :x :x After a reboot everything was fine for 2 hours more than the trouble began again....had to reinstall Windows XP to get rid of this shit. Thank you so much Microsoft for the great updates you publicize. :Bingo:

I also haven't had any problems with the SP2. At least it fixes a couple of things in Windows, so that Windows are now one of the least voulnerable OS... ...yeah right... :CrackUp: :CrackUp:

I haven't had any problems yet with SP2.. I have the firewall disabled and I'm not sure what you guys mean about the download block thing. I'm using Mozilla Firefox to browse the Internet.

My Java professor in my college has an undying hatred towards Microsoft and all their products LOL

sp2 freakin sucks. installed it and now any site i goto inside IE i get forbidden, even the fricken windows update site. checked securities and everything and i dont know wtf is wrong. gotta wipe everything once i get the cds from home. sigh. sad day. ;(

When my friend updated it on her laptop she got the blue screen with the fatal error. She couldn't reverse it and now her computer is fried. It started automatically downloading on my laptop and I couldn't turn it off so I just shut down windows. When I restarted, I also had the blue screen. Luckily I was able to restart in safe mode and system restore. I want nothing to do with this service pack. I've heard more bad things than good and now I've completely turned off my system updates.

I have heard too many horror stories for me to install it just yet. I'll keep my PC up to date with all of the other patches, but I'll definitely give it another few months so vendors can produce drivers that function correctly with SP2 and any necessary patches come out. I hear about lots of people having display driver issues.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 is Microsoft's biggest cock up since Windows ME ;) Love it.

sp2 is doing pretty good for me. Only problems ive had were it detecting my USB bluetooth adapter i use for my v600.

most of the annoyances are easily workable, once you get those done, sp2 does pretty good. So far so good, but maybe not for long

I really don't touch that page more than once a week... if it were a full-time thing I'd definitely put more effort into it. it's just a site that I throw up in Notepad for my friends and coworkers to check out, because I realized I was emailing everybody way too many links on a constant basis. But yeh, I know it looks a little weak.

SP 2 screwed up all my CD burning software. Now all I can use to burn CD's is iTunes. Microsoft can kiss my ass, my next computer is going to be an Apple. I love Dell, but Microsoft screwed all that up. Apple is the way to go.

ms was smart enought to thwart my xp crack with any upgrades... so i am left running an old OS until i feel like forking over money for a real version... don't think that is gonna happen... i'll just sit here behind my own firewall where only i can screw myself....

The only problem I had was that I couldn't get it at first from their website. Had to have a friend give it to me on CD. But since then, everything's been fine.

WELL when my system was barebones...it worked great.... but after installing a few progs.....the damn NT error keeps popping up...

some of my programs i can't install cause of this . like the simple hp program for printing. and a few others....i uninstalled sp2 ...and the prog seems to work now....

weird...OH and this was on sunday..so it's recent updates..
