Im looking into an expensive M-Audio sound card. Does anyone have anything they might like to add or advice on something else? Cheers

which card and how expensive? by all accounts m-audio make very good budget to mid-end soundcards. if your after just stereo ins and outs the 2496 card is pretty cheap for a studio grade soundcard and has got good reviews. I have a terratec ewx 2496 which has been good for me.
If your after more inputs and outputs the firewire models from m-audio look very good check out their website as there are a few new models out. the motu 828 is also good I used to have a one of these but there about ?600 each and may be above what you need.
