New version of the Preview Release right out of the oven.

(Just click on the logo for the firefox official site download)

There's a really cool feature in the PR, if there are updates available for Firefox or some of the extensions you've installed, a small icon appears in the top right corner of the window, left of the page loading animation. It's like a small arrow pointing upwards, red for critical updates, green for minor ones. Double clicking it opens a dialog where you can choose what to download :Bingo:

Re: Firefox 0.10.1 PR released

I've been using Firefox for months now, and I really enjoy it. So many improvements over IE its rediculous. If only web developers wouldn't build IE-only pages. :MadNow: (Although no decent web dev guru builds any browser-specific pages, imo)

I tried to do it and it works perfectly, maybe they fixed it on this release.

The download manager is the weak point of firefox I think, there are some complaints aboout the manager messing up when downloading long files, not being able to resume them.

I'm using Free Download Manager, it's free (hehe) and it captures the links on Firefox, just like Getright does on IE (and it's a lot better than getright too)

Re: Firefox 0.10.1 PR released

I d/led it about a month ago, but had a problem with it. For some reason, my bowser window won't pop up at all at times--downloads or no downloads. But maybe in this new release, its been fixed.

Other than that problem, foxfire blows the crap outta IE, imo. It has alot of features and does pretty much what you want it to. It also seems to load pages a bit faster than IE. Well worth the d/l! :Bingo:

Re: Firefox 0.10.1 PR released

gonna have to check this out. I have been using foxfire/firebird now for about a year and a half and its such a relief to actually have a reliable browswer as opposed to the piece IE. For all of you who haven't demoed it yet, seriously give it a try...

If you want to download stuff using windowsupdate.com then yes, you have to use IE as it has some Microsoft only features that allow the browser to install the updates... Besides, it's not that hard to open up a copy of IE anyway!?

Plus, if you're on broadband set your system to automatically download updates (I select the do not install feature) so I can take a look just in case. Saves the whole process of having to remember to grab the updates if you do it that way.

Firefox does kick arse... Really quick at rendering HTML, I am loving the tabbed browsing and some pretty neat themes for it to boot. And not forgetting extensions

:)
