...what rank has the progressive sound in your life ?

#271795Post 2 of 38

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

What "Rank"?? what does that mean? I guess for me hhowever it is kind of a lifestyle since all I listen to is Progressive. All I ever want to hear is Progressive. I get mad if Im forced to listend to something that isnt Progressive and I kill people that want to listen to hip-hop instead of Progressive. Does that answer your question??

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

i dont think the music you listen has anything to do with your lifestyle, a lot of people could have a lot different and sill like a particular kind of music.. prog. rock. whatever..!

It's the one thing I obsess over more than anything else... if I get stuck in a bar, I either (sober) get pissed and want to leave or (drunk) can't stop laughing about how bad the music is. When I roll up to a stoplight, I'll sometimes turn my system up until other cars shake just so they know how much their music sucks (I think most people usually don't understand what I'm trying to say, though)

Well I'm married to it.. gonna get a ring for the ring finger to signify it and to replace the ring I already have on that finger.

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

I'm consistently late for class because I just HAVE to load up my iPod with a set I just downloaded. I'm constantly telling my girlfriend to wait a second while I burn a new disc to take in the car while we go to dinner. I just ordered my Proton Radio t-shirt a week or so ago. Damn, just typing this is taking time away from looking for new sets!

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

Nice to see so many that love progressive.

I too am a slave to progressive house music, my life would not be the same without it.

As far as a rank, it hovers somewhere inbetween 3 and 5, depending on the quality of music that's out at the current time.

Like a lot of the other posts, I literally refuse to go out anymore unless I get to hear progressive house, trance, breaks, or any form of progressive, as long as it's smooth, intelligent, and kickin'. I almost wince at the thought of going out to a bar/club anymore if I know that I'm going to be forced to listen to radio drivel.

I'm not kocking other forms of music, I have varying tastes, but as far as the "..best.." music in my opinion, progressive takes the cake. It just has so much to offer as far as melodies, beats, and lets be honest, it's just fun to listen to!!

As long as they're are good progressive producers and dj's, I will always be a fan. I hope I'm chuggin' to the beat till I'm old and wrinkled.

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

Yikes! There's a lot of my cock is bigger than your cock going on in this thread! :HolyShit:

In a club, I love it... just the right groove for me. starting to get a little board of it listening at home sometimes tho. nice in small doses.

but i love all music anyway... not just one type.

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

I'm 28 now and I've been listening to it since I was 14... Can't get enough of it. Can't stop buying vinyls, can't stop downloading sets... I CAN'T GET ENOUGH PROG!

People at work think I'm crazy listening "repetitive music"... You know what I have to tell, them... You don't like it, go back to your f--ken MTV endorsed bling bling sh-t!

#272102Post 15 of 38

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

agreed with all these posts. Progressive is the closest to defining who I am and/or want to be. Pounding, but laid back. Party, but chilled. Its just the ultimate in smooth. Progressive is everyone having a good time all the time. As long as progressive is around I'm confident that everything is ok.

I know that feeling. The missus doesn?t share my taste, i?m sure she gets pissed off when i expain in great detail why the DJ was focking shit and that is not how to mix to two records. I,e slamming it over from one R&B to the next.

I do have a life however, and i couldn?t say that prog ranked highly in my life. Good music is important, but life is more than prog.

#272143Post 17 of 38

Most people come from other genres (EG trance etc), and when they were into them, said the same as most of you above....that it was better then anything else.

I will say what ever style of music I like, it is my life. I'll admit I used to like trance, before that rock etc....each moment was the most influencing thing of my life at the time. And I can't say I'll sit in prog for ever either. Hell I may end up liking batty house or something?

The word 'better' EG My music is 'better' then your, or theirs, is a very interesting choise of words. You can't push politics on someone, you can't push religion on someone and you can't push music on someone either.

Better in your mind probably equals shit in their mind (especially if they like RnB).

Live and let be (especially turning your car stereos @ lights -- Only making you look stupid).

Hope the above hasn't been a waste of time.

HEEEELL YEAH! I love it, I do the same thing. Cause you know that theyve never heard anything like what your playing. Ive only had like 2 people yell out their window to ask what im listening to and where to get it(2 thats sad). But hey, people are afraid of everything these days lol. Nobody even wants to look at you when your at a stoplight.

As for prog & my life...It used to be all I was able to listen to. I used to be closed minded about my music. (not sayin anyone here is) And I would not give any other genre a chance. And then I thought about it, and came to conclusion that im no better than my friends who talk shit to me about my music. So I would hear some stuff i liked from my friends, then go d/l the album, and found out its not so bad..after all, it's all music. The main reason we are all here baby. LOVE lol, oh and PLUR!!!

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

Is there much else that compares to the sound? We actually hear by feeling vibrations and the progressive sound feels best to me.Theres nothing like an intellectual head massage.mmmm :LoveYou: progressive....

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

I love all music! However only Progressive gives me goose bumps when listening. My friends and co-workers think I'm nuts.

When I retire all I am going to do is spin my old vinyl and CDs and say to people "remember this tune!" :)

i love progressive, but wtf? rank....come on....can't u people enjoy shooting the shit with friends at a bar and telling jokes and stuff without having withdrawals to listening to progressive? now most of which sounds like fucking slow trance.....get a grip guys....

I love prog too - but not being able to enjoy a night out because prog isn't playing is just plain sad! What ever happened to enjoying a good night out socialising with mates - you can enjoy that whatever music is being played, just as long as it doesn't drown out the conversation.
Ive only had like 2 people yell out their window to ask what im listening to and where to get it
Yeah, I've had one person at a gas station ask me for the CD out of my cd player, and a youth pastor on a 5-hour plane ride ask me for a few cds. They got what they wanted, but most people don't want shit to do with it.

Agreed, I never shut it out. I listen to it all the time. From time I get up in the morning to the time I got bed. I never shut it off. I even listen to prog to go to sleep to. I love prog. Music is the top priority in life. Well maybe besides work. If I could just figure out a way to get music and work combined together. I would be the happiest person.

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

I don't think I understand your statement... however pro house has been my selection for the past year or so. When i drive its always either progressive or some type of house. When i walk around on campus I have my Ipod and listen to sweet tunes. I'm progressing through life by listening to progressive.

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

Although I love it so much, I have 'mellowed' out a lot recently, and have a much more open mind when it comes to music. i.e. I used to get really annoyed and moody when I was in a bar and they would be playing commercial crap, but now I just accept it and try to have a good time. As a consequence I have enjoyed lots more music this year, which is precisely how I got into prog in the first place - because of my simple love of a good tune.

Some excellent commercial tracks I have enjoyed this year:

Gorillaz-Dare Unknown-Love on my mind(?) Mylo-Drop the pressure

But prog will always be special to me, and it makes it even better when I go to a place where prog is played i.e. bedrock@heaven

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

Prog is my game, but to me it's a lifestyle meaning crossing boundaries and doing new things. Also listening to all kinds of music I like, which is a lot...my other fave though is latin stuff, ranging from classical guitar to latin rap/rnb/hippity hop and prog to top it off...and of course african shiz.

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

i like various type of music, from reggae to punk. yet, there's somethin special with progressive house music that makes it different from the rest. its fukin awesome. most of the time, for instance when im walkin to classes, or chillin at my house, the instant i put my headphones and start hearin some sick beats i start fillin highly motivated. like if i don't need nothin else. i always spend time seeking for new sets, thats why i love the recommendations section. recently i started listenin again to john digweed live from beirut. WOW. 4 hours of pure progressive house. there's definetely important things as workin, but musik always makes you happy. Its the answer.

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

Prog sustains me, I really cannot go a day without it. The only time I listen to another genre is just to take a break, but I'll be back soon. I'm not a snob though, I won't run from a bar because they are not playing Prog, and I don't go around thinking "my" music is better than everyone else's.

Stragely though, I rarely ever go to clubs anymore. That is in large part a geographical inconvience, as well as my old ass getting too old and lazy to make the effort to get into the city, but I'm still keeping track of the sound thanks to [ms]

I'm quite sure I will stay with the sound for life, even as it continues to grow and evolve. Its natural progression mind you, not the ship-jumping move to the latest fad in house music, but staying with prog where ever it goes. To me prog is not some dead end niche of house, but rather the way foward---> future house.

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

my mp3 player contains music ranging from vangelis, holst and john williams to nirvanna ,stone roses , deep purple . around 20 gig of prog and 10 gig of chilled in between though . we all have a favourite genre but if u love music u can appreciate the cream of any type of music ..

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

progressive helps me with my thinking cap, but it does not run my life.

Re: Progressive sound...life style ?

reading the posts and some of you are prog addicts. for me, i enjoy prog, but other types of music too. i listen to all kinds of music like rap, pop, 80s(see my age), rock, etc. still electronic music whether its specifically prog, house, electroclash, or trance is clearly my favorite.

when i go out I usually attend clubs that play mostly hip hop and/or pop so i've gotten used to the commercial sound. the really nice clubs with many attractive women in my town only play commercial music.
