So I recently branched out and joined a couple different forums non-related to music, but various other things like sports, etc. Never in my life have I seen so many people get talked down to and bashed for their opinions (mine included) and whatnot as much as I have on these boards. Forums are built for people to express their opinions and have fun and intelligent conversations, not opportunities for pussies hiding behind a computer to talk shit. Obviously not all our threads are intelligent (ahem, two girls one cup), but god damnit I am so glad to be a part of this board. I don't see nearly as much grief in this forum as I do in any other forum out there and I know there have been valuable friendships made because of MS because we are just that kind of group of people. This is home above all other forums and I'd just like to say you guys rock. I am glad to be a part of this community. 8)

ya know garrick...this is a music board, but have not here for the music for years. i was all about this music when mercuryserver started, but it's just not my thing anymore. it's my favorite board because of what you said, the people. there isn't another board like this on the internet to my knowledge. having been here since day one, seeing it progress, transform, become what it is now- one thing has always been constant- that special attitude combined with friendship around here. i'm probably not explaining it right, but if you've settled into mercuryserver, you know what i'm talking about.

onward and upward....yes...but thankfully we've always stayed the same.

Thanks for the kind words Garrick and yes Mercuryserver proves that a mostly self regulated message board can actually work though it is used from people coming from various countries so thanks to everybody for being a piece of the puzzle.

yea this board definitely is something special... people like beanz/sightless/jenks/jibbly definitely adds the pink to it

i have been apart of this communityback when audiogalaxy was around and have been here ever since and will continue to be for the forseeable future.

i try to explain it sometimes to people what this board is about... nobody understand it, you just have to experience it firsthand

man, i remember the days of long ago when there were about 10 of us here late night after one of the crashes or whatever happened back in the day.. seems like almost 4 years now. After meeting some in person and talking to some on phones trying to help me rebuild my pc, lol.. kamal =) I'm glad our own BarneyIllFingers introduced me to this place in a condo at about 5am during WMC 4 odd years ago, lol

The first time I saw this happen I was totally astonished!! :shock: It certainly isn't what happens on other forums I use from time to time. I'll never forget the way I was treated on the first music site I signed up to, unbelievably rude when I asked a typical newbie question!! :lol:

I've been on MS for ages but haven't posted that much untill recently. It's true that this is one of the most positive boards I know, I spend a lot of time on GU too and that board's appeal is the opposite, ie full on animosity which can be quite amusing also. :D

Yeah, the GU board basically sent me here. Every post on there seemed like a trainspotters contest. MS is more addictive than cigarrettes and heroin combined. Someone is always generating some laughs and not always at the expense of other MS members. This place has it all. Now when are the next batch of MS T Shirts gonna arrive?

No question we all take breaks but end up returning, for that reason alone something is certainly special about MS. I thought forsure I would be over it after graduating college, but the opposite happened. I am shocked I give a sh*t about reading everyone's responses sometimes, but then again, that's why I really dig this place, the members here are overall pretty intelligent and "get it." MS was recommended to me by a friend of mine who had the BEST taste in prog house of anyone I've ever known, he's from FL like me and I'm stoked to be headed to FL for Christmas in the morning, Merry Christmas MS;) p.s. the new banners are SICK!
