raves..
Re: raves..
Only ever been to a few raves they were normally in the middle of nowhere one was on The water Board Property in east London with a few Transit vans and shit loads of hippys
My ex-girlfriend used to shop at Rave. I think she got some pretty slutty outfits from there which should've clued me in to what she was eventually gonna do to me. Does that count?
I hardly ever hear anyone even use the word rave any more. THANK GOD
I used to go to a lot of raves in detroit but mainly around hear if u want to go out you have to go to a club. Raves are pretty much obsolete around here. The last rave I went to was probably like 3-4 yrs ago and there was not nobody big there either. It ended up getting busted also. THat is probably why there are no parties in detroit anymore b/c they all end up getting busted.
Re: raves..
Raves, LOL

Re: raves..
I used to go quite a bit when I was in my mid 20s. I was fortunate enough to experience a few underground parties in Brooklyn back in the early 90s when it first came to the states. Like everyone else who was at one time a raver, I burned out. Plus the scene in the NYC area really became dominated by drugs-- seeing a bunch of 16 year olds in K holes turned me off. BUT, it led me to this point, so it is all good.

Re: raves..
Yah, i used to be a big party (rave) kid. would go more, but have not been around decent parties the last few years. Philly scene used to be phat in the mid-late 90's. I'm goin to WHISTLE too, I'm psyched as hell, it's gonna be madness (which is what i miss about that scene, just all sorts of crazyness  ) Hopefully i'll see alot of philly heads I ain't seen in years. Disko- are/were you a philly party kid? Def lookin forward to tha philly massive ;)
Re: raves..
Nothing these days can ever compare to the raves that occurred in the early to mid 90s. I used to be big in the Baltimore/DC/Philly rave scene and was always at the Thursday night FEVER parties which Scott Henry & Feelgood started too. All the Ultraworld, Sonic Soul and Fusion raves were great memories. I miss the Tripotronic warehouse parties which Modern Music used to hold as well.
Re: raves..
its the opposite here. more raves less clubs
Re: raves..
i don't like raves anymore. i have gone in the past but nowadays i tray to stay away from it like a plague. ugh. its annoying now. i guess 'cause i'm older but whatever. i don't like the candy kids at all. wtf look at yourselves. yeah i've gone mangled quite a few times at raves but i never carried a backpack, wore candy anything, or had a pacifier in my mouth or wore those redicuously huge white micky mouse gloves. ugh look at yourselves.
annoying candygirl: omg omg hiya! why are you guys walking?!?!?!? me and my friend: going to get a drink. annoyingcandygirl : you should be dancing and having fun and stuff blah blah blah. here have a sticker and smile and dance and stuff!!!! (the sticker was the Dell E logo). my friend: go look at yourself in the mirror. me: LMAO!
then we walked away. cruel yes but still funny. raves were fun when i was young. when cracked out those raver girls are sooo yummy. lol :Bingo: aah good times.
Re: raves..
Yeah this old wharehouse used to be my second home on the weekends for a few years, that place and the once in awhile massives that would happen outdoors in tents and huge mainstages. Raves were somthing i had a passion for...cause ive always been into the music, and then when i found out that theres "concerts" that play my kind of music i went nuts, those few years were the funnest times of my life so far. But now there are no raves here in town...so its now just bars and house party get together things....oh well..one day i'll go to europe and see how it's really done.
Re: raves..
of course I used to go. usually that was the only time you could see bid time dj's in their real enviornment. actually, its too basd cause now that we dont have them, alot of dj's dont have very many venues to play at.
Re: raves..
I can't believe I completely forgot to mention the Storm Raves that Frankie started up in Brooklyn which is one of the originators of the scene.... man, they were held in such random places from behind a supermarket to under a bridge!
yeah ive been before as did everyone else.. i dont miss em much through... the waits in lines, seeing kids qhacked, heat, overcrowding, & i dont do anyhting any more.. i would prefer goign to a club & jam out.. the 1 thing i do miss is the energy some people brought to their sets, & the amount of sound they had.. we dont have any / many systems in dallas that have world class sound..
also miss the anything goes thinkin of some events
Re: raves..
i saw charles feelgood in the early '90s at the edge in orlando,fl.he spun before the artists formerly know as the dust brothers on the sideshow stage in the outside in the backyard barn.good time.great to hear he's a headliner..............wait a min did you say your 24 and are worried about being to old to go to a rave!nevermind....your are not to old to rave  but you are to old for a pacifier
used to go until the place near me shut down some months back for a variety of code violations...
man there was ALWAYS some wack $hit there though...but seeing kids all cracked out in the corner was pretty disturbing too..and then the ones acting like they knew it all when it was probably only their 2nd rave they've ever been too
these days also up in NE every lineup looks the same half the time no matter who's throwing the party...so why go sometimes? :?
nothing says a good time like pools of cracked out 13 year olds.
yeah, it gets old quick.

Re: raves..
Went to two this summer. They are pretty lame. The drugs pretty much rules the scene. Artificial feeling of euphoria is not what electronic music is about.

SOE sucks. they always have been shady and has sucked. i always have been weary of their parties and its come to truition everytime. they can go fuck themselves everytime. whistle 4. lmfao! hope you have fun in one of the MANY e-puddles. thats what the guv sees and its sad.
Re: raves..
Not sure you would call them raves but we have free outdoor parties every summer around Brighton, either on the Downs or on the Beach. The DJs who put them on are excellent, nice crowd, usually around 100. They are very skilled in avoiding the police, always clear up etc etc.
It is so nice to party outdoors and they are a welcome change from the corporate clubbing scene and all it entails!
Re: raves..
I've been to some really good raves in the past years, and seen some awesome talent, but haven't been to hardly any since around 2000. Nowadays its a once-a-year event, Peloquin, myself and crew head up to Seattle for Freaknight on halloween weekend. But after a while, you just get too burned out on it all.
Good times, and usually good music, though. Truly the best environemnt to roll. :ROFLMAO: :D
Plus, who can deny the energy in an environment such as this: :Twilo:
Re: raves..
I?ve been to a few raves in germany years ago.
Sometimes i remeber the energy floating when 30000 people are crying....
Re: raves..
In Holland, raves have never really gone away.
Obviously depending on what you understand is a 'rave'. In summertime we can choose between a few raves per weekend. Some have managed to stay undergound, the larger part has commercialised and it's questionnable whether they can still be called 'rave'...
At the commercialised ones, you can see all sorts of people: old and young, hippie and skinhead, drugged and drunken....
In clubs in Holland there's probably a higher % on drugs... :HolyShit: Personally, I love the big events. Mainly because of the atmosphere and the line up is normally quite good (last year on 1 event: Sasha, Digweed, Deep Dish, Sander Kleinenberg, Matthew Dekay, Markus Schulz.....)
Try to beat that in a clubnight!
Re: raves..
I go to more harder faster nights than I do prog tech house nights I like the energy levels, and atmosphere at these nights alot more.I tend to use prog house as my chill out music at home, the only exception to this is Bedrock which I always look forward to.
i used to rave at Fantasy Ranch - Tampa, FL also Simons - Gainesville, FL
dem wurr duh daze!
We had RAVE THE CITY, RAVE THE WHATEVER...
Even a dj called the Dark Raver... ;-)
Re: raves..
went to one about four years ago in cali... made me feel real old... music was manic...
Re: raves..
I went to one in 93/94 in a cave in middle of the Lake District that was pretty mad loads of acid on board pretty wild to old now :What:
Re: raves..
miss raves like all hell... i hate clubs and i hate the people in clubs... most of them just want to fuck you or turn their nose up to you... its never a friendly crowd...
raves were fun cause everyone did have an element of respect involved and a light heart... made things fun... not to mention the music you could get away with... much more gratifying.
Re: raves..
I used to go to raves alot before I became 'of age' to get into clubs. I remember at my last one w/Keoki, Doc Martin...I was in high school. They were fun, to say the least, but I haven't visitied one since I left Florida. I think Zen fest was one of my last ones. But raves sorta disappeared a bit too.

Re: raves..
I was fortunate enough to get the directions to an underground rave in Amsterdam last month. Those guys went all out! They located an underdeveloped building, annexed the basement, and actually did a lot of welding and painting before they were satisfied. The Polite (Coppers) didn't show up until 7 hours into the party, and never shut it down. My friend and I were in an unknown part of Amsterdam, far from our hotel, and surrounded by total strangers. Yet it appeared to be the safest place to be. The whole night reminded me of high school all over again. You know the feeling when you're being bad, but because you're underage you're invincible. That night was great, the people were chill, the beats were top shelf, and then...the come down.

Indeed...didn't they throw those massives down there too with like 239838947 DJ's on the lineup in which maybe 60-70% typically showed up?
Those are the ones I hate the most, unless it's a major festival overseas; THOSE are done right
