Fuck.

I was going to buy cdj 800:s in december but now it seems that I should get these. USB-in sure is handy and it has 0.02 pitch with +/- 6.0 like the cdj1000...

50 € cheaper too with a price at around 650 €.

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

That sounds awesome. I may very well have to look into these.

Need to hear some solid reviews first though!

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

Ok, got these today and after an hour on them I'm deffo sold. Wouldn't prefer them on gigs but they're perfect as homeplayer. The vinyl emulation is good enough for beatmatching and the loops work perfect. Tried playing with both a memory stick and cdrs. Didn't notice any difference.

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

I live in the states and got them from PSSL on the 26th.

Their website said they were not available yet so I called to ask when they'd be released. They said they had them in stock so I ordered 2 for $1,260.00 and they even shipped it UPS Second Day Air for free which kicks ass!

Website even shows that they are in stock now

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

It's also worth mentioning that they came with access codes to download the new Pioneer DJS software for free in January. It says you need to buy 2 400s to be eligible, both of my cdjs came with an access code so you must need 2 codes to download.

http://pioneer.jp/dj/campaign/campaign_english.html

It says January 1 - March 31 is the promotional period

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

Im having a problem deciding on which cdjs to get mainly because of the price. For the prize of 2 cdj400 i can get 2cdj200 and a cdm400. Guess ill get the cash for the mixer with the 2 cdj400 in 3 or 4 months or maybe more

Is it worth waiting?

Do you mean a djm 400 mixer?

You definitely will need a mixer, even if that means going with the lower end CD models. Also, don't forget you'll want a decent pair of headphones (an additional $60-$120) as well as some speakers.

I'm really happy that I went with the 400s instead of the 200s. I love the platter and all of the extra bells and whistles that it has. However, if I didn't have a mixer I would have probably went with the 200s b/c starting from scratch and buying a pair of 400s + a mixer + headphones could easily cost $2,000 and would have been out of my budget.

What it all comes down to is if you want the extra features. The 200s still have all of the pitch adjustment that you could want (.02%), the same great looping, and 3 jog wheel effects. But at the same time, with the 400s you get all of those features plus a boat load more!

Actually I have been trying for almost 2 weeks now wiht no luck. Anybody else know of a reliable site to buy one.

#961636Post 19 of 35

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

hmm, that sucks. If I remember correctly there were only a couple sites offering the $629.00 price on the authorized dealer list. I'd suggest checking all of those sites:

Your only option may be to wait at this point

The pioneer CMX-3000 also has wave display.

I thought I would miss it, but it really hasn't bothered me one bit. It just makes me pay more attention to the music if anything!

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

They finally released a firmware upgrade as well as the DJs software that they've been promising to provide buyers of two 400's a free download to.

I just downloaded to find out that the free DJs software is NOT MAC COMPATIBLE! What a disappointment!

Not that I was expecting it to take the place of live or anything but I really wanted to check it out regardless.

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

^^^i got a few questions. if you buy cdj400 today do you still have to upgrade the firmware or are the new models already updated

also what exactaly does that dj software do that they will give you if you buy two.

#994955Post 27 of 35

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

you will probably have to do that update for the next few weeks until they get all the new ones caught up.

Here's a description of the software. Looks a little bit like Traktor http://www.turntablelab.com/dj_equipment/41/31/10807.html

I imagine that the new ones will have upgraded firmware already since cdj400.net tells you to check and see if you need the update first. However, I imagine that there will be other updates in the future regardless. ALso, I don't think you even need the update if you're not going to be using it with the DJS software.

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

It came today! I am so happy with the service provided from these guys (they even placed the cdj in another box to cover what it is so that i don't pay the import tax)

My first impression's are very positive it. it feels well made (unlike the 200) and everything functions really well...I personally prefer the feel of this deck than the 800 although I would say that the 800 is much more convenient for scratching purposes while on the 400 its really a bonus feature to be used once in a while as the plater just doest quite feel right its too elevated as a result of which the surface area allowed for scratching feels kinda small... However the 1000 reigns undoubtedly supreme over both the 800 and 400 (as its price would suggest) Personally now that I have tried it I am probably going to get another one :) If I had loads of money to spend on equipment I would go for the 1000 mk3 (the 800's are out of the picture as far as I am concerned) but I don't really so the 400 will more than just do. Seriously its a very good deck even if you don't look at the price...it feels more expensive than it is if that makes sense. I haven't yet tried its Digital connection features but when I do I will post back...

#1009659Post 32 of 35

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

thanks for the feedback. I am leaning towards gettin some

#1012544Post 33 of 35

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

wow the looping function is amazing I feel like Zabiela now lol (the 200 is shit comparatively) and the filters are much clearer and there are more of them :)

I love this deck im gonna get another for sure...the only thing i would put forward as a flaw although not all will agree is the feel of the plater..they should have covered it with vinyl or some kind of rubberized plastic so its not slippery when scratching...(my hands sweat some times when i mix music...the stress gets me)

p.s. still haven't connected it tom my laptop :(( don't have the cable for some reason but I will buy it..

#1012827Post 34 of 35

Re: Pioneer CDJ 400

Ok...bought the cable got it all connected and it works fine with traktor. Its an absolute bitch to set up...u need to map out all the controls yourself (I am sure there is some .tks file that you will be able to download at some point that does it for you). Everything works, even the jog wheel - although I am having limited success with setting it up for scratching...I know it can be done I just got bored after setting up the first 20-30 things so I'll continue tomorrow.

So far when I use it there is no lagg i.e. the program responds immediately with no delay!!! which is phenomenal but I have my doubts if that will continue when I try scratching.

I think it can work as an external sound card as well (The DJS software recognizes it as a sound card) so I assume you don't actually need to have your own for it to work and the DJS software made by pioneer is a pile of shit...I have never ever seen a software made for dj-ing that has such poor impractical design and shit features + you would expect it to have everything set up for use with the CDJ 400 but it doesn't...so in short use traktor. Apparently native instruments are gonna release an update that will allow the use of the display on the CDJ and that will map out the controls as well---that would be really good, save people a couple of hours of tedious work.

This makes me much less angry about the fact that the DJS software does not work on mac.

Glad to hear you like them bro. I could not be more happier with mine!
