The tracklisting looks pretty damn good. May have to buy this one, haven't been much of a fan of Lawler's for a long time though.....

Thoughts? Anyone heard it?

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

I've had Part 1 in the car for the past 2 weeks (promo), pretty nice minimal tech set, dark at times, but definetely not the Lawler of old. A lot nicer than his electro sound of 2005-2006.

Part 2 I have to sit down and check out, 1st time around wasn't that impressive

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

i listened to cd1 promo earlier today and freakin loved it.. Lawler may be coming back imo. will give cd2 a listen soon.

@ fabric8, Totally agree, cd1 is way better than anything i have heard from lawler in the past 4 years.

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

i dunno anymore about stevie, his nubreed disc pretty much changed my music life. after scooping up all of his dark drums discs and his home covermount cds, and his amazing essential mix back in the day he was one of my idols. but the viva discs make little res sad :(

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

I wish he would have just stuck to that dark tribal sound.

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

I still think VIVA was better. He's getting more and more into minimal. But he seems to find mostly the good minimal with great grooves.

That would have been nice. Like many have said before, I loved his dark drums stuff. Hopefully that style of music be fashionable again.

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

I quite liked Viva and thought it was well put together. May see if I can snaffle this at a bargain price on e-bay.

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

Thanks for the opinions, i will get the promo and see for myself, didn't like his electro(or anyone elses for that matter) sound from the last few years, glad he is getting away from that.

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

just checked out disc 1, really sick techy minimal vibe to a lot of it. i got annoyed with his older, tribal drummy beats, but i love the trippy stuff he's mixing now.

i hopped on disc 2 just to see how he uses dubfire - ribcage because i couldn't picture it. silly me. lawler rocks it...

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

damn dark!

disc one is amazing!

didnt really get into disc 2. gonna give it another spin later on!

good to have lawler back on form. he kinda went off on one for a while.

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

Really like lawler's new cd. Cd 1 is by far the best out of the 2. I posted about this a while back actually in the new releases section. Great effort by steve this time around but I do miss the old dark tribal set he used to spin.

which e-mix was this?

I've never been into his stuff really. but I would definitely like to check something out that would change my mind on his work.

Not in the any of the recent sets I have heard. That used to drive my nuts when he used to do that.

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

After listening to the promo of this(Cd1 so far), I may just have to buy it. I am really liking his sound once again.... The dark sound has been fairly prevalent this year among those who championed it in the first place(Lawler, Pappa. Diggers,JVM, ect.) :)

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

I have always been hit or miss with steve lawler, his EM in 2000 and his nubreed were damn good, his first lights out was pretty sweet, then he changed his sound and i didn't like it, same with the first VIVA cd, now he is really sounding good.

Re: Steve Lawler's New Mix CD VIVA LONDON

Can anyone post the track listing and track times for disc 1? My computer is having a hard time ripping this CD so I have to rename and rearrange the tracks. Thanks!
