So I was listening to NPR a few weeks ago and I remember them talking about how to save money. I need to get plane tickets and I remember on the radio show they said it was easy to be a package carrier for companies and you can get basically a free plane ticket. For example, you deliver a item to the city you are going to for the company. Anyone know anything about this or is this just complet bull shit...???

Stop and think about this for a minute...doesn't this sound insane to you? A company would really place their sensitive business information into the hands of complete strangers and ask them to just drop it off somewhere?? :lol:

If you really did hear this on NPR then I want to know which companies these are so that if they are public I can avoid investing in them!

....btw I've got some ocean front property in Arizona that I can sell you on the cheap ;)

the package doesn't have to be sensitive... and i don't think the person would "just drop it off somewhere"... i've heard people do this before, but usually not a stranger like you point out.

They used to do this -- they hired you as a courier, and took advantage of your cargo space to ship something large. You had to carry on your luggage.

I think they did away with this post 9/11, though, with the increased scrutiny on making sure that you packed your own bags and are not transporting anything for someone else.

yea, it defo used to happen. Haven't heard anyone doing it for some time. The draw back was that you couldnt say - I want to go to New York. They would say we need packages to goto Moscow, Berlin, Tunisia - pick one. Or they would call when they had a package to go to New York - but you wouldn't be able to schedule when that was.

There is also a film about it - cant recall name at the moment.
