Re: Rip

I went out to the bar to have a few drinks tonight with a bunch of coworkers. I left my dog outside. Harley was an indoor cat... he never set foot outside except for the past 2-3 weeks. Since I built my new deck/stairs i've been leaving my back door open for him to explore outside. he has always been extremely cautious of people/animals.

my friend brought her dogs over to play in the back yard with my dog while she and I were at the bar. ~30 minutes before I left I noticed Karmin was gone. I called her and she said she snuck out of the bar, was picking her dogs up, and that they smelled like piss.

30 minutes later I got home and saw my back screen door open. I walked all outside to try to find Harley. I didn't see him anywhere, so walked into my room to see if he was in there. A lamp was knocked over. I went into the basement to get my flashlight, turned on the light, and saw a rag doll laying in the doorway. A wet rag doll with blood, urine, and fur all around it on the floor. As I went back upstairs to call my friends I realized there were chunks of fur spread throughout the house.

I immediately called her to tell her what I found. my dog would have never done such a thing... their dogs always barked through the door at Harley but never got a chance at him. until they were left alone to find a way into the house themselves. their dogs also have a track record for killing squirrels/possums/raccoons/rabbits. i'm not mad at them, because this was a complete accident... none of us could have ever expected it. I know they feel horrible and they probably want to beat their dogs but it has already happened. no sense in beating a dog for something that we don't catch them doing. I feel bad for them, but I hope they realize I'm not mad at them. my dog might have even taken a part in it... once the pack leader gets involved, the rest of the pack usually follows. I can only imagine what happened in my house tonight. I have proof all around me. I don't think I'll be sleeping in my bed tonight.

her husband came over to help me bury Harley. I just finished burying Harley and cleaning up the blood and urine, but there is still fur and the smell of urine everywhere. I need to vacuum/shampoo carpets and mop the rest of house but don't want to do it now. it's too late. I'm hungry, I'm tired, and I want to hear my dog stop whining.

the second-latest picture I have of him... the first day he was comfortable enough with being outside that I could stand near him without him running. 8 days ago.

the latest picture I have of him. 30 minutes ago.

Re: Rip

daaaaamn, really sorry adam. what a horrible scene. my cat is sitting here on my recrods while i'm typing this, and it's making me sad looking her.

Re: Rip

dude, i'm sorry to hear that. that story is devastating. seriously, i know how it feels as i've been through asimilar situation. stay strong bud. i'm scared to let my cat play with my friends' dogs now. honestly though, that isn't right for dogs to do that. there may be something wrong with them. dogs don't just do that. what kind of dogs are those? they should be checked out or trained or something because that is just fucked up bullshit.

Re: Rip

Sorry to hear about this, I hope you're doing well.

#920726Post 22 of 60

Re: Rip

I do think it's a little outside the realm of normality for the dogs to slaughter a cat-obvi not much to do about it now but that's not something any dog I've ever known would do.

At any rate-that shit is fucked and you are inifnitely stronger than I am to have been able to clean it up on your own.

Our thoughts are with you....

Re: Rip

it sucks because I work from home. my buddy and I cleaned up most of the evidence last night but there are still things I'm seeing empty food bowls, litter boxes, etc. I'm starting to notice loose fur that has balled up in the corners of the rooms or fur on top of the couch/my bed which has accumulated over time just from him living here. I told my boss I'm taking half a day to clean because if I don't I won't have another chance until tomorrow night. I need to vacuum the living room/my bedroom and mop the laundry room where the last stand took place... think I might go into the office for a bit until my calendar opens up enough to come home and clean. last night was pretty rough but i'm doing ok today. thanks guys.

Re: Rip

Same thing happened to my cat years ago. Never got another. Two dogs ripped her open during the night.

We did not know, until I went outside in the morning. She was laying in front of our door, still alive.

But there was just no way she would have survived,.. so we put her to sleep.

I feel for ya. Sorry.

Re: Rip

dude my dog just fucking puked.

I don't know what the fuck she was puking but i'm not going to find out. i caught her just as her stomach was churning so got her outside in time for her to start walking the yard.

she's the most unagressive dog in the world. so much so that people make jokes at me all the time because of how much of a puss she is. i guess if there's a pack leader there will be a pack...

or maybe she's sad. I'm not going to find out

#920732Post 26 of 60

Re: Rip

she probably knows what happened. i'm sure she wasn't involved.
