Oakenfold does a special one hour show on radio 1.

Basically an hour of self promotion, how he is better than U2, has met the queen and is a general pioneer of all styles of music. He plays most of his back cataglogue, for the repeat fees no doubt. ;)

Re: Oakenfold - Radio1 Leg end.

Actually it is not just Oakenfold:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/established1967/feature/legends.shtml

I am sure the reason Oakenfold is on is because of his influential and now legendary 1999 world tour he did for the essential mix

The other Legend shows are really good and i am sure his is also.

Re: Oakenfold - Radio1 Leg end.

Listened to it (he'll always be a hero here in Liverpool after his 97/98 Cream residency) - highlight was his old remix of unfinished symphony: pure class.

Re: Oakenfold - Radio1 Leg end.

I agree, I dont like oakenfold now but he was good once. 1995 I felt he was at his peak but his JDJ was excelent and he has had a massive infuence on dance music no matter how much people disagree.

i agree with that, oakenfold used to be amazing but like a few people in dance music who shall remain nameless he let it goto his head and for me that totally spoiled him

where are you getting this from? I thought the Ku set was better than the goa mix. The is a track on it called 'by your side' which is amazing, It was said that it was a remix of a sade track but i dont believe it was. Anyone know what it was? I also had this taped and have lost the tape ages ago.

cheers

Gary

Re: Oakenfold - Radio1 Leg end.

Ku 95 one of the best mixes I've ever heard. Shady 'pearls' is at the start of the second half. Shame the quality of the freshly mixed etc is crap especially with the fadeouts. Where is my tape...

Re: Oakenfold - Radio1 Leg end.

Don't laugh ! But I caught Oakey last Monday on the Liverpool leg of his Perfecto 15th B/day Tour - I didn't expect too much, but it ended up being one of the best sets I've heard in ages. He just played all the tracks from his Cream 97-99 residency and EM World Tour, so it was back to the days of the Annexe and the Courtyard - amazing. It makes me realise how short changed we are some some of the drab music these days (i.e. electo-tinged minimal with clicky drum tracks).

Re: Oakenfold - Radio1 Leg end.

glad you had a good time, fuck what the little pricks say about Oakie. He was up there with the best of them. Half the people who bash him are about 18 anyway so what do they know!

I would have gone

Re: Oakenfold - Radio1 Leg end.

this is the "we're getting old thread :) " But it would be great if oakenfold went back on the form he used to be on in the old perfecto party days. Pure classic.
