Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
what do you think of him ?
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Most of his stuff is worth a listen but im not his biggest fan though.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
i think he is the biggest electronic music argentinian exponent i just love his music, when i listen to his sets & remixes i fly away the atmosphera
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
never heard of him. must be crap.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Nice guy.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
decent at best, has his moments, but the argentinian thing combined with the standard prog house dj hype has rendered him severely overrated.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
I think his name sucks ...badass dj though, really good live, good times.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
hernan who? ;)
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Looks good in shades.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
I like his hair.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Only seem him once
back in 2001
Man he rocked it :)
god
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Quality DJ.
When on form, plays the best prog house around. Also heard he is a nice guy(through a friend that has had dealings with him)

^^^Very true.
i have seen him live prob. 4 times.....one time he bored me to tears on the main floor at space miami only to make it up later up stairs on the terrace.
I used to love his radio show from about 2003-2005, but the last few years i only seem to like a handfull of songs that he plays each week.
overall he is in the top tier of prog house djs out there although martin garcia is taking over

Agree - but I do believed he's developped his sound more than a lot of other prog djs
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
he's been WAY on point of late better than ever imho
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
His compilations are good, South America is one of my all time favorites.
Seen him live twice, the first time he was excellent (2005), second time he was good but not great (2006).
Radio show has remained solid and didn't sell it's soul to electro nearly as much as Transitions did in 2005.
Overall great dj.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Great DJ.. seen him live a handfull of times...
absolutely love his style, his 9-8-2007 broadcast of metrodance was fantastic.. i listened to it prob. 10 times.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
i love the fact that he's done..what - two mixes for mercury server? top guy for that IMO
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
in all seriousness, I think the guy is great even though I don't follow much proggy stuff anymore.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
I've got few of his mixes I listen from time to time, but he is not my favourite by all means. I generally would prefer something a bit more 'lively' if I'd go to a club.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
The man is a LEGEND... Although I like his older sets better I still enjoy listening to his stuff... Heard him on 24th august he rocked...
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
I wasn't going to answer this because everyone probably knows what I think:) But just couldn't resist the chance to talk about him.
Obviously I think he is amazing, as someone said in another thread he has made his own sound. Someone here wrote in a review that he has the ability to connect on a personal level with his fans and I think that is because he genuinely cares about his fans. If he does what he thinks is a average set, the worst they are is good, not great!! ,he will try and make it up. Looking at his site this week there was a gig cancelled in Rotterdam , next time I looked he was doing a charity [dance4life] gig in Rotterdam!! Obviously I don't know the details but it looks as though he has gone out of his way to look after his fans . His music evolves all the time and just seems to get better and better . The 9/8/2007 mix is mindblowing. He plays current music and styles but mixes it until he owns it!!
I have been lucky enough to see him 5 times and three of those gigs were the three top gigs ever for me. In particular the last one was just so perfect that I worry no one will ever do better:lol: Even though he played an extra hour it was totally seamless aural bliss. He does seem to play best when he can play longer and he also seems very crowd reactive, if the crowd is with him he just pulls out all stops!!
He is so generous to us, the weekly mixes are alway new, and he seems to love sharing his music. Unlike another Dj we know whose initials are Danny Tenaglia!!! [Sorry, couldn't resist that either ]
As I have said before I totally respect his work ethic, he doesn't just churn it out, it's all quality! I have also discovered so many other great djs through his radio shows! I went to Deadmau5 here last week because I heard Jaded and Faxing Berlin on that 9/8 show, I've even discovered Australia guys through these shows!! He supports his industry.!!
I was also lucky enough to meet him on his last couple of gigs here and he is probably one of the nicest people I have ever met, genuinely interested in what we his fans think. Everyone I know who spoke with him or had dealings with him from the promoters down think he is pretty special.:D
I'm with the Argentinians [or Argentines] He's a God!! Actually my dearest wish would be to see him in B.A. with his own Argentinian crowd!!:D
Well. that should keep me under control for a little while.:)
btw we should appreciate what we get from him now because i'm sure there will come a time when, for whatever reason, he won't be able to give as much as he does now. Nobody could maintain what he does forever!!!
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Damn Long Haired Hippies!!
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
I don't think people should judge him from his radio show.
For every great show (yes, 8th September) there are another 5 or 6 where he just plays new tracks in an unimaginative fashion and that's not so much a reflection on him as a DJ as a criticism of a lot of boring crap that's getting produced nowadays. His released compilations are great and he is a great DJ live especially when he's given some room to stretch his legs (say 4-5 hours at least)
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
^^^ His radio shows are indeed just a part of him. I'd rate them higher than you do though :) You're totally right about his longer gigs. :)
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
hands down, hernan live is one of the best.....the more the crowd is into it the more harder he works to bring them higher.....yes u def cant judge him from his radio show.....have to see him live to appriciate how amazing he is and the incredible music he plays. its a shame its been a while since i have seen him solo.

Come on, what do you really think? ;)
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
^^^   Actually, believe it or not, the times I have met him I could barely string two words together, in fact the first time I lost my voice!! He probably thought I was at least, mildly retarded.!
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Hernan Cattaneo is one my favourites, heard him live 4 times now, and each time the music was simply amazing. And personally i think that he is playing better than ever at the moment!
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
yeah, i saw hernan about 6 months ago at Vangaurd in LA and he kicked some serious ass that night. he just may be the brown digweed? (i know, bad joke)
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
The man is simply amazing, seen him live twice now & managed to meet him in person the second time he's a nice chap.Got all his compilations & his latest sequential is out of this world:shock:
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
I think he's consistent and solid...I've don't recall listening to one of his sets and think it sucks...
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Saw him 4 times live and evrytime I had a blast. Top DJ, among my top 10, plus he is a very nice person
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
we at mercuryserver hate hernan that's why we host his shows
really, has any of you heard the last live set it's appeared on the promos and recommendations section? it was aired in radio cavo, and it's solid gold imho never heard him play that way, it's been a while since the last time i heard him live, and this set made me want to see him again. hopefuly i'll catch hernan - james zabiela - john digweed on Creamfields buenos aires this year :D
though his best performances are when he gets to play 5 hours or more. man i miss those 6hs sets at pacha. he started playing at 2am and left the booth at 8am it was pure magic, starting from a deep housy set, rising till a furious progressive.
if anyone wants to listen one of those sets, look in slsk for Hernan Cattaneo - Live at Pacha 20-09-2003 (or was it 21?) also named Cream Spring i guess.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
Anyone know when he is coming back to NYC?
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
kind of looks like jim morrison
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
I find Hernan to be a bit uneven altho his live sets are usually better then his Resident Mixes.
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
decent at best, has his moments, but the argentinian thing combined with the standard prog house dj hype has rendered him severely overrated.
He is quite simple one of the greatest djs on the planet at the moment, A superb sound that builds and builds . Technically perfect too. I have seen him 6 times and everytime he looks as if he is serving a dinner , dishing the courses up one after another. Why else would Renaissance keep asking him to their Masters Series Mixes?
Re: what do u think about hernan cattaneo?
I´Love it.
