day_001 - Aloha!

what a day in travel. Started at 7:00 AM just ended in Kaanapali, Maui @ 21:34 PM. Three hour minus from my time zone. Got delayed in Portland for about 2 hours, missed our connecting flight, car rental took over an hour, and the drive another. Finally made it. ;)

What a beautiful resort. Did not get to see Hawaii in the day, because we got here so late. On the island hop over, I got stuck next to the freaking engine seat.

Everyone is chill, slow, and relaxed. No rush here, they actually freak out over aggressive people. :lol:

Get some Mount Gay or Pirat (and for the whiners: Mount Gay is one of the best known Caribbean rums and even Bond drinks it in Casino Royale...they pronounce it 'monkeyrum' by the way.)

Where all are you going to be over there? If you can, I suggest you hit up Kaua'i. My favorite island over there. The Marriott resort in Lihue would be my choice of where to stay. It's great how relaxed everyone is over there. Stay away from the areas that just look like cites on an island. They take away from the whole beauty of the islands. I can't wait to go back. I'm going back to two of the islands next month for work again.

we are staying on Maui for a week. We thought about island hoping but it was not too cost effective and also because we are traveling with the boo. ;) Next time.

i recommend hiking into the crater and afterwards in the evening chill at a beach which is not too crowded. what also stayed in my memories were those black sand beaches on the biggest island... it is a weird feeling. :)

lot's of time spent at the resort and in the ocean. Pretty much snorkeled the whole day. We cut out around 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM due to the sun being so harsh. UV index of 9, 10 being the highest. I am cool with leather, and definitely not cool with my wife having leather as well.

A lot more clear weather today. Took a few pictures of the bluff. Always cloudy were there are hills. Pretty amazing. I started a rule today, no drinking until noon or past. The previous day I started drinking at 8:00 AM and it seemed never to stop. I have never slept so well.

The sunset was just beautiful I got a picture for you all to see the crazy psychedelic colors. The evening was closed off in the town of Lahani, so the tailed are some open exposure shots of the town.

hahah yea, i moved to bordeaux last week. by some huge flaw in french laws, i am allowed access to 6-10 year olds for 12 hours a week to teach them some english. i posted some photos in the digital scribbles place.

Dom go do the Volcano downhill bikeride. It kicks fucking ass, they take you up to the top of the volcano on Maui, let you see down into it and then give you a bike to coast downhill 13 MILES through farmlands and streams and all sorts of cool shit.
Def the most memorable thing we did while I was there. DO IT

road to Hana. Perhaps one the most interesting drives I have completed in my life. Not only is it suicidal , long, scary and frightening, it is also extremely beautiful. I did not get many pics just because there really aren't many spots you can just run around and take photos. I did snap a few for your guys. My neck hurts from all the left and right. We stopped at a sweet beach, with huge waves. I got crushed a couple times into a few barrel rolls. Truly makes your appreciate the power of water. If you never had this experience it is like getting a refrigerator dropped on you, and with a rip tide it can feel like two horse pulling you in two opposite directions. What a rush.

I got a winning photo of a frog on the beach. Truly amazing how it came out. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Yeah no doubt. So true. It is just you, the ocean and whatever she wants to do. As humans we are so prone to controlling everything, and here is an element that we are at mercy to. I just let go a few times and let the waves take me. Got a quite a pounding a few times. ;)
