Mix CD's

I have noticed recently that recent mix cd's are becoming shorter in length. For example Adam Freeland's recent GU, both discs are about an hour long each. Each CD could have been 80 mins each. Either the DJ could'nt be bothered in finding any more tunes, of which I am sure there were plenty, or he thought that the mix was good enough. I know that some mixes are outstanding at just an hour (one of James Holdens - At the Controls, springs to mind) but I do feel like I have been short changed when another 30-40 mins of music could have been included.

Anybody else noticed this recently?

ps. A bit cheeky I know, but does anyone know if the tracklistings.net essential mix download for Dubfire is floating about anywhere. I only trust the quality from that site, Herre does a great job each week.

Cheers

Re: Mix CD's

I noticed the Holden mix was on the short side when I listened to it last week. I don't really care as long as the music is good. All the best mixes are too short :)

Well it's the DJ's perogative, if he feels a mix is complete then so be it. It's a showcase of the DJ's skill and taste in music, if he/she wants to shortchange us, he's shortchanging himself.

There're mixes that I wished were longer, but i don't feel 'short changed' like the DJ was trying to cheat me out of another 30-40mins' worth of music

Re: Mix CD's

I agree that the aural experience is of course first and foremost...but I will admit that I tend to be a bit wary of a traditional mix with just 10 tracks on it...

You and Herre should get a room. ;)

I remember the days Holden use to flyer outside heaven, maybe i should have been nicer to him.

No one would mind less of certian DJs CDs. Tiesto for one.

Re: Mix CD's

It's all about the flow of the tracks and usually the editing, who doesn't like more music, still the overall sound is more important.
