So i'm sure about everyone here has been to a rave...my best was hanging out at the booth with Djs such as Sharam and James Zabiella, like standing in there next to them overlooking all the people,,,Zabiella was crazy,,I mean this guy was 100 percent into his job...my worst was getting invited to an afterparty at a warehouse that ended up being a dopehouse,,,with junkies sticking needles in their arms and stuff...i left after 1 minute and the guy at the door wouldnt let me leave he though i would rat them out or sth....I said screw this man,,,just let me leave and i'll forget all about it...and when i finally convinced him i look back and my freind was gone somewhere inside...i went to look for him and he was scoring some from a huge black dude,,,i mean my freind is not into drugs but the guy walked up to him and said wannna get some dope...he just got scared to tell the guy that he didnt want any and was like yeah what you got...But finally we got out safe.... screw this....

any time i say i'm going to see some djs people ask me "what is that, a rave?", i say no it's a club night/event.

but hey, i have been to some sketched out events before that i would definetly consider as raves.

i can't really say that i've had a bad time at anything as long as the music was good...i just go with at least two other friends so no matter how sketched out things get you at least have some people you know with you.

a threesome with 2 super models from Spain and Greece in some deejays dressing room, the 10 capsules of E and a couple cases of whippets were fun too...it ended up back at their hotel for a couple more days. Oh, I miss Miami Beach in the winter during Fashion Model week.

I only went to them in 2001 and by then the 'raves' were legal. Still held in warehouses, with lights, soundsystems, DJs, but ticketed events. There were smaller ones that were really illegal, but they were rare.

Then the warehouse locations got superseded by indoor stadiums and those slowly degenerated into a circus for underaged white trash. There used to be this delineation between 'ravers' and 'clubbers.'

Too many good moments, but one that stood out was in the forest early in the morning when the Orb was playing. It began to drizzle very lightly and I was flipping and every raindrop was a sparkling emerald gem in the air.

Not entirely bad but I was pretty fucked: Spending a few hours in a tent staring up at the shadows, stepping out into what I thought was a circus dome (WTF did these cars come from, and why were they in a circus?!) only to realize the night sky had joined with the skyline and I was in a volcanic crater. And then walking around seeing these grasses grow out of the vocalnic rock and thinking I was walking on the seabed. Walking to the edge of the crowd and looking up to see some hugeass topless dude blowing hugeass a horn on a stage and I couldn't decide if I was seeing things until somebody told me Juno Reactor was playing.

Another time I 'woke up' in a club wearing pajamas :shock::lol:

Well as far as im concerned that description encompasses the sort of nights we all go to (bar the dancing styles maybe) so..

Best - Bedrock at Heaven April 2006. Digweed did a special party for this one with only 900 tickets available which werent advertised except on the Bedrock board, thereby ensuring that the only people there were true lovers. We were about the 5th people in there and it was by far the best night I have ever had. There was literally not a tune all night that was less than a 9.5/10 and at one point I tried to go to the bar 3 times but had to keep running back to the dancefloor coz the tune coming sounded so good! The bar and seats were totally empty for the majority of the night because everyone was 'raving' so much and it was like a little private party with Digweed on the decks all night and the ridiculous Heaven system. Because the dancefloor was only half full it was nice and cool for a change in there as well. 'Club drugs' (lol) were spot on, gorgeous girls, etc etc, it was literally a perfect night. High point was hearing Hay Consuelo by Pier Bucci which I had been loving already prior to the night and remains one of my favs to this day:D

Prob worst rave experience. After seeng Digweed at Herbal for Bedrock a few years ago and having a reasonably good night, we went back to a mates house and got talked into going to a warehouse party at 7am while starting to come down. Turned out to be a nasty, proper dodgy do with loads of people doing nasty drugs like crack and crystal meth and rolling arond on the floor fucked out of their faces, all to the lovely soundtrack of gabba techno. Worse still, we had to wait for everyone else coz it was miles away and despite being offered meth, ket, crack and smack, we couldnt even score any herb to try and ease the pain and go and chill somewhere else.. URGH!! :(

yea I guess I've never been to one either. closest I've come was a warehouse party in san francisco, NYE of this last year. I guess I'm too young for raves?? I'm 27 though so wtf... dunno.. I went to college in the middle of nowhere.

oh but so on topic of best or worst.

So anyways, the story is, there's my roommate, his girlfriend, and 3 other guys all trying to pack in to her toyota celica which is like the tiniest car ever (in US terms). So this one guy J, who is a bit odd, says "I'll just ride in the trunk." So they start driving and he squeezes into the trunk of the car. This was back in college so not everyone had a car. But my current roommate and 3 friends desparately wanted to go (I was not invited I guess?). So he gets his girlfriend at the time to drive them all there (and party with them.. but even today he is always having his girlfriend drive him around for some reason)... SO they are all pumped as they get closer, and partying in the car. They get there, and all get out, and go into the warehouse and dance for like 2 hours, then one of them goes "Holy shit, we forgot to let J out of the trunk!" They just ran out to the rave and were so excited they forgot he was in there....

So they go back to the car, and I guess he snuck out of the car somehow after a bit.....

all have been good for the exception of one.

ate WAY too much acid and ended up not understanding where or who i was for many hours. it was so bad that after it hit me all i could see were colors "blending" and geometric shapes/patterns everywhere. peoples voices didn't seem like anything i had ever heard before and had no idea where i was or who i was with due to not being able to focus on ANYTHING!! many hours later when i finally came down i was home alone. i had no idea how i got there or who drove me. dont even remember being in a car for the 3 hour ride home.

come to think of it, may have not even been to a rave that night.

sad thing is that i always made fun of "those guys" who seem to party too hard and make a complete ass of themselves in a public place. my friends said at no point did i "freak out" they did say that i looked like i was scared to death the whole evening and didnt say anything the entire time.

Wasn't that at snow summit up in Big Bear, it was a pretty sick event. That was probably one of the first large rave since the early 90's when LA county put the lid on after hour parties. My first rave was probably Grape Ape or that dodgy one at raging waters. Weird times indeed.

My first rave probably wasn't even a rave at all, considering that the city of Naples suts everything down at around 2...Anyways, it was seeing Dj Keoki and Jimmy Van M at the Florida Sports Park here in Naples.....My brother took me, he wouldn't allow me to take part in anything illegal at the time..But it was fun...At the time I had no clue who Van M was, I was just excited that something fun came to my town..Looking back on it, pretty cool to have seen Van M back in the day, and it was a good night.

My first rave was Evolution at the Sanctuary in Milton Keynes. Djs like Dougal, Sy, Hype, Slipmatt etc. All banging happy hardcore and did one of my first gurners there when was about 15. We were all tops off and glo sticks with luminous builders jackets on. lol. It was hilarious looking back and loved it but when I hear happy hardcore now it literally makes me sick..!

^^ Ha ha! That was pretty much the same as mine...did my fist bean aged 13, and doing my paperound at 5 in the morning cos I was still buzzing. I had no idea what was happening but loved every second of it.

Worst rave ever was Homelands a couple of years back - too many mushrooms + gangs of scallies wandering round robbing people + losing all my mates + the most fucked guy i've ever seem pretending to be a photographer and taking endless pictures of me with his hands = :suicide:

I have only been to 3 and they were all at the same place in Boston. And I must say they were all positive. In the south of Boston, Chinatown... There was an abandoned building with a Chinese restaurant on the first floor and all empty apartments above. On the top floor there was a loft space throwing monthly parties. Only lasted 8 months, it was torn apart to fix up. Good times

First time I went to a rave was in montreal , Dave Seaman , Roger Sanchez, Deep Dish were playing , 25000 people , and it was my first time taking the magic X pills, got lost and found myself hanging out with people I didn't know , was fun but nothing special, I'll take a small itimate club with a big DJ playing over any rave.

Believe it or not, my best experience at a rave was when Paul van Dyk was behind the decks. It was Zuloo 3 or 4 during Mardis Gras in New Orleans in 1999 I think. I've never experienced the feeling I had that night. It was the first time I, and what seemed like everyone else in the audience, had heard his sound. It was amazing, I didn't know music like that existed at that time. Everyone was standing up on the seat of their chairs just flipping out. Not one person there wasn't in awe at the performance he put on that night. Imagine, when trance wasn't just god awful, hearing For an Angel and his mix of Binary Finary's 1998 while trolling your balls off. Also there's something about the venue we were in, The State Palace, that's just extraordinary. I miss that place so much. I have chill bumps right now just thinking about that night.

And right behind that is when Sasha and Digweed played at the House of Blues in NOLA during their Delta Heavy tour. Their encore was so awesome, everyone on the dance took their shoes off and held them above their heads. Disco Donnie started it and everyone else followed along. I was too cool and too funny at the same time.

Worst experience was also at the State Palace. Can't remember which party it was, and I know it wasn't the DJ's or the music that was bad. I had just taken so much acid, I couldn't piss. I literally held my dick for 30 mins just trying to pee. I was so shaken up, I actually went and talked to one of the meds to see if there was a private bathroom. He looked at me, well like I was on drugs:p. My buddies that were there with me that night, will never let me forget about that. So I decided to go and dance my ass off so I'd sweat it out. It worked and ended up having a blast.
