I don't know why, but recent sets from these guys have just been absolutely top shelf, cohesive quality that just rocks, what other dj have you noticed that are rocking it right now?

any particular sets? I'm seeing about the same...some good, lots of so so. I rarely find a set from anyone that I like all the way through.
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
gotta go ahead and disagree with that Mr C comment! Unless you can provide a set to change my mind.

Agreed.
a few great, a few good, lots of so so, numerous that aren't even tolerable. most of the sets i've been jamming aren't by djs in the top 100 but they're in the great category.

Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
I'm with ya Jenks (on the not top100 djs, not on the names, haven't got a clue who they are)
That said, Tom De Neef (Hedkandi) is slammin' these days.

Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
I just saw:
Carl Cox Francois K Goldie
About 4 hours ago @ Space, and all I can say is wow. Francois K was destroying the floor, with amazing tribal, progressive and even some non prog thrown in. He was was flawless, but he was also using a Mac. Glodie was in the terrace and it was nice to hear a great DnB set out of him, to be honest I had no expectations because I hadn't seem him spin in about 10 years. Mr Cox came in about 3AM into a rammed main room and proceeded to put on a clininc, if any of you have been lucky enought to witness Digweed back in the day when he played for 6 to 12 hours then you would have smiled... It was proper Vortex like madness!!!
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
Digweed's never been off anyway.
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
i think sahsa got back a bit....matthew dekay played some good ones too, especially that he started changing hi selections a bit...

Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
Hey Hypo - glad you enjoyed Coxy: I've caught him on the Sun Terrace the last 3 years and he is absolutely awesome ... one of the best club experiences you can currently get: inside that discoteque later on is so unique - when Zabiela says its like being in the centre of the earth he's not far off. I actually really enjoyed Behrouz and (shock) Erick Morillo at Pacha ... sometimes house makes a refreshing change.

Thanks, I did enjoy my time in Ibiza. I totally agree with you as far as how much I was surprised by the quality of the house I heard... It was almost elactro free. The little electro (for lack of a better term) that I heard actually went somewhere and didn't sound like mindless whale farts.

but looking at that list, it really makes me miss that robots party a lot (bi-monthly in a clean club in no way compares to a weekly dungy one). :(
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
zip is the motherfucking man!
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
I've had almost all those guys in for the Alphahouse party. Fantastic djs and good luck with the tracklists. Amazing record collections.

ever.
word to yo' motha! :p
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
Diggin the Baunder, Ewan Pearson, D-Nox and 4 hr Francois K sets even that hour Silicone Soul set was good. Just depends on tastes. Gotta throw in the Hernan Cerballo set as well.
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
Er, Hello everybody, what about the Argentinians? (not just Hernan)
Martin Garcia Deep Mariano Kintar and Rex
For me these guys are carrying the prog. torch at the moment and doing a damn fine job. Excellent track selection (still can't find a complete track listing for any recent Martin Garcia sets, anywhere), very smooth mixing, always resisting the urge to play an anthem just for the sake of it and constructing sets that are more than just the sum of their parts.
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
how bout the other Argentinian and South Americans?...
Barem Seph Jorge Savoretti Franco Cinelli Dilo Gurtz
that's where it's at 8)

His choice in music for that past couple of years has. His mixing has never been the problem.
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
I agree that I don't really care for what he did in 2005 but that was a difficult year for all DJs who were coping with the transition from prog to tech.
Re: seems to me like most djs around are stepping their game up
shit, wish i could have heard that. whats josh wink playing these days?
Started off pretty downtempo and minimal but interesting, organic minimal with plenty of old-skool acid effects. Got pretty banging as the set progressed but still not too aggresive. What blew me away most was his mixing...absolutely flawless. Still, suppose he's been doing it longer than most!
