Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
Beating a dead horse possibly?
But hey, if a world class race car driver likes to go on and on about a new sports car he just bought.... it's hard not to take note and want to hear why the guy is so thrilled, no?
Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
i want to know about involver 2, his hair and his pingpong delay settings
Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
^^The pingpong effect owns!!!
Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
Didn't know Sasha was still alive. :NotMe:
Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
"There's so many things you can do with it [Ableton] as a dj". Hmm. To be honest since he started using it I haven't really noticed anything mind blowing in his sets; maybe I'm just not aware of the work he puts in behind the scenes when he's performing but honestly he might as well have been on 2 cdjs, mixer and an fx unit for the last few years and I wouldn't have known the difference.

^^ :mullered:Haha
Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
Some times less is more. Just because you don't notice what he's doing when he's mixing doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Unlike JZ when he goes balls out Sasha takes a bit more of a subtle approach when doing things in Ableton but yet not practical to do on a two deck set up.

youre right, you must not be aware.. I saw him at Glass in Miami at wmc 2006 and watched what was going on.. he is deffo not using ableton to just mix two songs together like some Ableton "djs" A LOT of work goes on before and during.. so the fact it sounds like 2 cdj's should be taken as a compliment IMO

Ping pong effect can be done in Reason 3.0, Inolver 2 is going to fucking own you like a train hitting a car stuck in the tracks, and for his hair I wonder if he will rock it long again?
Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
It does seem he is playing around a lot more with actual parts of the tracks when his track selection is on it does not really matter how he does it. The programming owns
Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
anyone got a video of thepingpong effect
Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
But the difference Ableton has had on Sasha and his playing is nothing short of ... invigorating. I was tuning out on Sasha for years till I heard his early sets when he first jumped onto Ableton (Fundacion and before? Did he do an emix or something that was played on Ableton?), you can almost feel the enthusiasm and glee he has playing with it. I definitely sat up and notice a difference.
Ableton is old news now but hell, Ableton was Sasha's ticket out of mid-life crisis. Of course he's gonna rave about it. Didn't stop the receding hairline though.
Re: Exclusive Interview with Sasha
Yes i recall hearing him perform shortly after getting sorted with his new Ableton rig and custom controller... the guy had a huge grin on his face. And the show was pretty damn impressive to boot.

Thank you - this is exactly what my soapbox is all about: if new technology is going to free you of some of the traditional challenges in a live DJ performance setting, then you should stretch yourself to take on new challenges that weren't possible before.
If you're a real DJ, the challenge should always be there. If at the end of the it's real art, it shouldn't ever be getting "easier" through technology.

Very well said my friend.
