Would you allow your classic prog track to be remixed trance stylee and played by the likes of Dave Pearce, Van Buren and Tiesto?

Call me a snob, but i'd rather let it be bootlegged.

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

I think fair enough, if a whole new generation of trancers get introduced to the bedrock track, some of them may seek out the original or find out more about the Digweed sound....

Thats what happened to me... James Holden played Heaven Scent and XPander when he had a residency at paSSion in the UK - he used to warm up for the likes of JFK and Armin van Buuren. This was about the time i realised i preferred the warm up sounds that the trance clubs were offering, then i picked up GU019. The rest is history!

Fair play to Greg for getting the remix sorted out, its not exactly a "cutting edge" remix, but the guy has been working hard for years (saw him DJ in Ibiza 2002 with one of my mates)

Thats my opinion anyway :)

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

No a bad remix but just not my taste. But like fletcher said it will help get the word around that there is other music out there besides trance. Who know what will happen with this. Prog house might become popular again.

I don?t like his face.

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

why would anyone want to remix it anyway? its had its day imo.

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

I'm just glad its a decent remix. If it was some really bad cheese fest I would have cried. I reckon Fletch has got a point in that this may make people have a search for other Bedrock stuff and in turn switch people onto that sound.

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

I can see your points, i and i kind of agree, but Tiesto and Dave Pearce. Next thing you know Bedrock is filled with crasher kids and drunken chavs. Where do you draw the line?!!

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

Could have been worse - could have been a mashed up track in the scouse house mode !

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

that track WAS trance, back when trance was still good.

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

^^^ Precisely. The track is trance, I don't see much wrong with a trance dj remixing it!

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

it is the last track on digweed's transition show this week and it is not worth a release on bedrock

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

Dunno...Might have changed his name to something else and is making tunes that we like and don't even know it's him..Who knows though.

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

this remix sounds almost exactly like the original

#889944Post 17 of 22

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

thought this was digweeds mix at first, nice work, bit less trancy than original

#889970Post 18 of 22

Re: Bedrock Heavenscent - Greg Downey Remix

Wasn't a big fan of the original, but the POB seismix mix, that's different.

And this new remix sucks. In fact, I'm sick of the riff from Heaven Scent, I don't know why they use it on the intro to the Kiss shows. Heaven Scent definitely wasn't one of Bedrock's finest moments.

Heaven Scent was always a horrible cheesy pile of crap anyway, i don't think those guys could do anything to it that would make it sound any worse.
whatever happened to them/that guy??? POB. Made some great music....than nothing.
POB is Paul Brogden, did lots of remixes and original prods for ages, remember :

GU 8 - Boiler

GU Ibiza 13 -The Fly

GU HK 14- Glide

S & D Communicate - Waah!!

Last thing he did was Aura (2005) with Taylor.
