What new talent has gotten your attention with their mixing, producing, or remixing... Progressive is a sound that evolves and where will it take us next and with who? I was disappointed with 2003 and the quality of sets available, while this year I find the sets are better quality with more a sound that is defining itself more and more... Who do you think the dj of the future will be in progressive house??? and why...

my fave cd of the year so far is Lucien-n-Luciano's cd Blind Behaviour

a true gem :Bingo:

he's been around a while, but i believe thats his debut artist album. his older mix cds are awesome too

#258576Post 3 of 67

think he's only been noticed slightly longer than this year by the world abroad, but my vote goes to matthew dekay. excellent seemlesss mixer. his flow is very smooth and he gets it going right.

For me it's someone local that I featured on Proton a few months ago - Scott Oliver. I am fairly biased in my opinion on this one, but generally speaking I think I've got a pretty good ear for what really works.

Scott's style is techy influenced prog house, with a slightly dark edge to it - and jeeeesus christ his mixing is superb. Heavily influenced by Digweed. Fucking hot stuff. (And he'll be back on my Proton show before the year's out.)

If you're after the 4 hr Proton recording, just look me up on Soulseek as 'gtappers2' and grab whatever you like. :)

Re: which new DJ would you say is the discovery of the year.

IMO, its Greg Benz. His production work is excellent and his talent as a dj is just as impressive.

#258698Post 16 of 67

steve porter for me.. never heard his stuff til last may.. he really impressed me with hi style and love of the music..

Re: which new DJ would you say is the discovery of the year.

Steve Gerrard gets my vote, for his mixes this year. Wasn't really too bothered until the Wrecked Angle mix on Annie. He seems to be playing more progressive breaks these days - check out the latest dialogue mixes on proton.

Roaring melodies, building seamlessly between house and breaks - assimilating the best parts of recent sasha sets IMO.

:LoveYou: John Digweed!

#258989Post 24 of 67

simply ... Mark Santangelo.

Been following him for about a year, and love all his work. Just a perfect example of solid, deep & dark progressive music.

Is there any value in YOUR post? Isn't the point for them to contribute? Someone comes up with an interesting thread and this is your contribution?

Good work.

Now, about the thread:

Desyn's been crowned the "NEXT BIG THING", but I wasn't that impressed during the Digweed tour. One hell of a record label, though, so I'll give him credit for that.

Steve Porter has really brought himself up a notch this year, and he'll continue to grow in popularity, IMO. Graduate from "Talented Opener" to "Headliner".

And Lee Burridge seems to be getting some of the recognition he deserves this year as well. He's always been big, but most people never put him in the best of the best status. I think his sets at Arc this year really helped him get recognized for what he is: One of the top five DJs in the world. My personal favorite.

Luke Fair is my hero in 2004. Not really new but I think making some serious ground this year into baller status.

Re: which new DJ would you say is the discovery of the year.

Derek Howell along with Joshua Michael produced a hell of great tracks and they were two names that I haven't been aware of.

Benz and MD were on the scene but they did a bunch of great tracks also

Finally I believe that a producer / Dj that we have to keep an eye on is Kosmas Epsilon..looking forward listening to his release on Deep Records. He constantly improves both his production and Dj skills.

#259240Post 40 of 67

kosmas epsilon & andrew k = new sasha & digweed heh

and also markus schulz has impressed me but I can't consider that I learnt him this year
