Re: New Xone Headphones....

Can't say until I give them a few tries, but it's going to be hard to beat Ultrasone.

Allen & Heath seem to be following Pioneers business model when it comes to their DJ equipment. Except A&H are actually good

Re: New Xone Headphones....

275$? fuck that. It better come with some good hearing protection as well.

Re: New Xone Headphones....

I think they looked like they are OEM'd from some other company, maybe not...

Yeah, not my studio cans, but my DJ1Pro. A lot of people say they don't have that 'punch' that other cans have, but I also like to be able to hear afterwards and not have my ears bleed.

#871768Post 9 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

if your ears are bleeding you're got shitty headphones.

#871898Post 10 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

that and you must turn them up way past what you need. I cue with both headphones on at the same time. And don't hardly ever go past 10:00 on the volume knob on the mixer. I guess that's why i'm still using the same Sony's since 2002 for dj'ing and pretty much anything else.

I do wanna get a pair of 650 Ultrasones though. but only for production.

Re: New Xone Headphones....

Just got these xones. Fking awesome headphones. All Mike Tyson punchy up on my head. Love em.

Was deciding between hd25, ultrasones, and xones. In the end, i really liked the Sennheisers, but not for djing. The Senns sounds awesome, full audio range, really clean sounding...it just came down to they just felt flimsy and i didn't care much for the smaller ear pads on them or the narrow dual headband. Ultrasones, nice sound, not enough punch for me.

Xones fit nice on my dome, steel construction, amazing isolation, and i'm going 12 rounds with a heavyweight with these things on. Pow!

Re: New Xone Headphones....

that is one of the top things a dj should consider when purchasing new headphones. The quality of build. I know the sony's weren't made really all that great. Mine still work, even after I've been using them since 2002. But i've got clamps on the tops of the earpieces.

#960203Post 19 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

what i expect of allen and heath is what they always deliver. always solid. always quality.

#960255Post 20 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

that's the way it should be with every company. That is but ONE of the many reasons why A&H charge more than other companies.

#969036Post 21 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

any hi-fi company can decide to use the best and most expensive materials and make headphones that come with 10-year warranty and cost $1000 dollars. the tricky part is to engineer a product that costs the same as your competitors' products but beats them in quality and MTBF ;)

Re: New Xone Headphones....

Broke my Sony's about 4 years ago... my pioneers just got broke this last weekend, so I'm considering these... If they've got steel construction, maybe that'd keep them from breaking.

Damn pioneers broke right at the hinge before the earbud... you'd think it'd be stronger plastic.

#1035490Post 23 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

i never did like the pioneers. didn't like that tiny hole in the ear piece that all the sound had to go through. They always felt weird on my head. I like the Sony's but would love to hear the A&H's. If they are the equivalent of the xone 92, than i'll love those bitches forever.

#1035515Post 24 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

I hear ya... I was never too big on the pioneers myself. I didn't think the sound quality was all it was hyped up to be... After about two years of having them, if you touched the cord where it went into the mixer, it made a crakling sound. If you had the quarter inch adapter off of them, and I had them plugged into my mp3 player I would have to move the damn connector around where it plugged into my player... otherwise the headphones would sound all muffled.

If the A/H are even close to the quality of my xone 92, I'll love 'um too.

#1041495Post 25 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

so Jenks, how much did you end up paying for them. I think my sony's are finally reaching their end.

#1041510Post 26 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

I can't find these damn headphones ANYWHERE!!! Every place has been out of stock since the 18th.

I've checked pssl.com, audiolines, Full Compass, guitar center, and even some of the local dealers here where I live. WTF!!?!?

#1041621Post 27 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

i paid $202 + shipping @ audiolines, but only because i called and haggled. keep searching dude, they're awesome.

did you CALL audiolines?

#1041640Post 28 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

didn't know about that place. I did a google search after getting on here and found the cheapest at 199 that includes shipping. I actually thought my headphones were going out on me. Than I realized that I just needed to compress the certain sounds i was working on in the studio...DUH on me. LOL.

Yeah I called them a few days ago and they didn't have them in stock.

Jeffrey, if you find them anywhere, let me know I'd like to order a pair myself.

Re: New Xone Headphones....

looks like most of these stores are out of stock. A&H needs to get on the ball and make more of these fuckerds.

Re: New Xone Headphones....

Finally picked up a pair today. Haven't had a chance to listen to them yet and I can't wait to.

Ended up getting them at Guitar Center for $199.18 out the door!!

Re: New Xone Headphones....

wait a sec...you bought headphones, and didn't even hook them up to a mixer or cd player to listen to them? WOW that takes a serious belief that you know how well their products are.

Well, I had the sonys and didn't like them that much, went to the pioneer's and not only was I not impressed with their sound quality but they broke on me too.

Anyhow, I've been reading a lot of online reviews and I have the Xone 92 mixer so I know they make quality products.

Anyhow, I got to listen to them last night and I don't have one regret at all! They're crystal clear, great bass, and they're comfy too! What more could you want. :D

#1060046Post 34 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

Oh man. I don't know why anyone would go with the pioneers. The earpiece has such a small hole for the sound to come through, there is no way you are getting all you could out of those headphones.

I may just get me a pair of the Xone headphones...if I ever get really back into Dj'ing regularly.

jeff that really doesnt make much difference doing that, a good set of headphones will need broke in just like any other good speaker, when i first bought my hd650's i was ready for sending them back because they sounded so dam flat and papery, now the still sound flat but are not as papery

they need to be driven properly

Definitely one of the posts that helped persuade me.

Funny you mention the "Senns" because the day I bought them I rolled over to my buddies house right away and he has a pair of Sennheiser headphones. Not the dj ones but the HD555 ones. He acutally agreed with me that mine sounded more clear than his... however he did mention that mine were almost too "bright" or trebly.

Anyhow, been using them for a few days now and I love um. 8)

Very clear sound. I bought on djdeals.com 200 bucks free shipping.

Re: New Xone Headphones....

I still use my silver Sony's I've probably had them about 8 years..Still going strong...The leather on the ear pieces are cracking but, they still sound good.

#1074329Post 40 of 49

Re: New Xone Headphones....

yeah i've had mine since 02 i think and they still work well. But they are cracked pretty bad and will definitely be needing some good HP's in the future. Probably will get these or some Ultrasones.
