Re: Jerry Falwell Dies

i usually don't like to act like this when someone dies, but good riddance to bad trash..... Rot in Peace(RIP), can't wait to hear all the bullshit his contemporaries say about him...

exactly. I'm real curious if McCain will make any public statement about this. He had a very public dislike for the guy, and then a very public love-in with him (that probably cost him his spot as the sure-fire GOP nominee), so he's kinda in a trick box. Hate to think of crass political things when a man has died, but c'mon, it's only Jerry Freaking Falwell, he's certainly used much worse for political purposes...

McCain, so i'm reading, was the first to respond...

Falwell's muder suspect found!!

Lynchburg, VA police apprehended the suspect believed to be directly involved with the death of Jerry Falwell... Suspect was found wandering aimlessly with what appeared to be a red purse.

Here is the mugshot taken:

Re: Jerry Falwell Dies

The interesting thing is that most of the time, when people other than dictators or serial killers die, I can think of something pleasant to say, regardless of how little I liked them during their lifetimes. Most everyone brings something positive to the table in some respect.

With Falwell, though, I can't think of any way in which he made the world better -- and some friends of mine and I gave it some real thought last night. Ironic that a purported man of God will probably be remembered primarily for his intolerance and hate. I don't like feeling satisfaction in knowing someone has died, but I feel about the same level of sorrow for his passing that I felt when I learned that al Zarqawi was killed. Crazy, but true.
